CHAPTER SEVEN One day of public appearances with Madeleine and the royal family turned into another. Enrique understood the obligations leading up to the wedding. Part of the preparations meant being seen together and interviewed, especially since people knew they’d only just met. Opinion was split on the short engagement. Unfortunately, Enrique hadn’t helped matters. Leaving his room, he closed the door and went to Madeleine’s. Tonight, Karl was throwing them a small engagement party. Small meaning less than two hundred people were expected at the black-tie event. Things weren’t going as smoothly as he’d hoped. He’d made two faux pas in the last twenty-four hours. One in private that only Karl and Madeleine witnessed, but the other was in public with the press nearby. Enrique cringed.
