My surroundings dissolve, her screams ringing loudly as I am swallowed by darkness. Her screams are ear piercing, but it’s not her burning at the stake as I thought. No longer am I standing in the square, chained to a pillar, but inside a tunnel. Peering around the darkness, whispers are carried on the draft that caresses me. “Hello?” I murmur, yet my voice carries too, echoing back at me as I try to figure out where I am. Yet the deeper I move through the tunnels, the whispers grow louder, like a chant in an icy-breeze.
