Chapter 5 The noise fell away as Tommy followed Lila up the rickety staircase to the sleeping rooms above the saloon. The hall was draped in shadow, pinned back here and there by candles flickering low in their wall-mounted lanterns. Lila’s hand fit Tommy’s perfectly, her fingers sure as they held onto his. As they entered the hall, she turned and he bumped into her—for a moment, she was in his arms, their bodies pressed together deliciously. She stood as tall as he, and felt so right in his embrace. “I’m the third room down on the right,” she whispered. Tommy nodded, confused.
