Chapter 49: The Trench

Time in the clearing seemed to be suspended at that exact moment of Nem falling backward the edge of the cliff road.
Raven’s expression twisted as he hoarsely shouted out to Nem, but the distance between the two of them brought out overwhelming despair to suffocate his thoughts and breathing. The trench beneath the cliff is an untouched territory, and a fall from down there clearly spelled instant doom for anyone.
Miyor and the others snapped their heads back to see the figure of their little queen already falling backwards in the edge of the cliff. Their taut nerves from fighting broke apart as anxiety, fear and helplessness intermingled in their bated breaths.
