Chapter 17: Crazed
Third Person's POV
Laughing, cheering, sobbing and countless discordant noises resounded in the central square.
Nem watched all of her subjects with determination and conviction. They are all her responsibilities since she wore her crown.
"Your majesty did a great thing for the kingdom."
Zyar's pride-filled voice reached Nem's ears, and she was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
She was not sure at first whether her decision can be implemented, and she is also worried about the reaction of the nobles that will be affected with the lowering of the tax p*****t.
The pressure of being a ruler that was crowned because of the lack of the leading person of the kingdom is not imaginable to anyone who cannot experience it firsthand. She is young and is barely of age, while she had not been able to build her own forces to support her reign.
The only officials and nobles that are loyal and willing to support her are the forces under her royal mother's family, and the forces that was personally built up by her royal father over the years of his reign. There are also those old officials that strictly follows the norms and traditions of the kingdom.
Nem clenched her fists tightly. She was just at the starting line, and knows that she need to take firm and slow steps to consolidate her rule. A shaky and unstable rule will only be detrimental to every citizen of the kingdom and its foundation.
"We thank your majesty the Queen for her benevolence!"
"Her majesty the Queen is righteous and full of grace!"
"We wish for her majesty the Queen to lead Regin in prosperity!"
The shouts of the citizens under the platform reverberated loudly, as all of them continued to shout hoarsely in unison. The fervent belief and trust in the eyes of the tens of thousands of her subjects brought forth a heat of exultation and vigour that coursed through her veins and pumping in her blood.
'So this is what it feels like to have tens of thousands of people to revere you?'
Nem dazedly welcomed the thunderous zeal of the crowd.
In a luxurious and private tea shop, on a private room in the third floor directly facing the lively central square.
Seles gracefully lifted the porcelain teacup and took a sip, while her gaze lingered past the window next to her straight to the far away platform where her second royal sister is.
The same two personal palace maids stood behind her in silence, and a handsome man with a noble air sat facing her. The gaze of the man never left Seles' face even with the lively ruckus that the reform of the tax created.
It seems that everything doesn't matter in his eyes except for Seles. The deep and dark obsession in his eyes seems to cut through the space in front of him.
"Her highness seems to be interested in the Queen's new reform?"
The steady and gentle voice of the man broke the stale atmosphere inside the private tea room. His gaze did not leave her face, and it darkened at the sudden quirk of Seles' lips.
The desire to conquer this princess in front of him agitated his nerves, and it could be seen by the bulging veins in his tightly clenched fists underneath the table.
Seles saw the reaction of the man and his unbridled gaze in her body but she only leaned in the back of her chair and placed down the cup in her hand. Her beautiful face and indolent expression almost caused the man to pounce on her on the spot.
"This princess only cares about the time to implement the plan."
Her gentle voice suddenly carried a sweet tone that drowned the man in countless illusions of a sweet paradise. He smiled at the effect that she had on him.
"Princess does not need to worry about that, I guarantee that it will be done beautifully."
Seles curved her moist lips and stared back at the beastly gaze in front of her.
This man will be one of the pieces that will help her realize her desire of bringing all of the Regin kingdom to her feet.
Seducing a crazy two-faced p*****t like him is just a small matter as long as the throne lands in the palm of her hands.
"This princess hopes this gentleman remembers his words...this princess does not like the feeling of disappointment."
Her gentle voice carried a slight biting chill to it that froze the two maids behind her.
The man stiffened for a second before a pleasure-filled laugh wantonly escapes his parted lips.
He likes this princess more and more, especially that twisted personality of hers full of envy, hate and delusions of depravity. He finds her really appetizing and a fit to his tastes.
"My dear little princess...you really are interesting."
Seles gave him one last look before leaving her seat and going out of the private tea room along with her maids.
The burning gaze boring through her slender back disappeared as the door closed with the wind. Dealing with that beast is really interesting, but sadly that he isn't her type of man.
She likes the gentle, naive and sunny type of man that could be easily controlled like a wooden puppet with strings.
At the northern kingdom of the northern wilderness.
The inner royal palace, in the personal office of the old retainer ordered by Regis to deal with the letter of the royal family of the Regin Kingdom.
The old retainer read the letter three time before asking two of his apprentice to send a letter each to the three famous herb and medicine shops in the capital city.
The letter had the stamp of the old retainer and it will be directly known as an order of the king by the shops as they are all aware that the old retainer deals with some simple matter for the king.
The letter of the Regin royal family contains the needed rare herbs for the medicinal bath of Amayris that can only be found in the territory of the northern wilderness.
It also requested the royal family of the northern kingdom to send the herbs at the border.
The letter was sent first so that the envoy of royal guards that will carry it back the Regin kingdom only needs to receive it in the border of the northern wilderness to save more time for Amayris.
The distance of the capital city of the northern kingdom to the border is almost five days of ride in a wild beast mount, and three days of ride with the same mount without stopping to rest.
King Regis stood in front of the window in his study, surveying the white land below.
His study is situated at the second highest floor in the inner palace, and the view amounted to all of the capital city and the roads leading down the fey mountain.
His tall stature rigidly stood in silence, and his enchanting face has the same chill and untainted indifference as the unending snow of the northern wilderness.
