“Hey, hey, hey!” the man in sandals yelled again as he approached Leroy. Got up right next to him.
“You all right, mister?” the cop with the name tag C.P. FLETCHER asked.
“I’m fine. I’m fine,” Leroy said.
Leroy waved for Merle “Get over here! It’s all clear!”
“Who are you, mister? You work here?”
“I am Sin Chowdury, I am the manager.”
Leroy yelled “I’m okay!” over to Merle, who was slowly jogging back over to the gas station, waiting first before crossing as a J.B. Hunt 18-wheeler roared on by eastbound. Leroy thought at that moment of C.B. McCall’s “Chartreus microbus” from his hit song “Convoy©,” (1975) which was later adapted into a full length motion picture of the same name, Convoy (1978) starring Kris Kristoffersen, Ali McGraw, Ernest Borgnine, and Burt Young, he of Rocky© fam
