Chapter 19

*Callum POV*
Wade has started well he already has got got Jason on the ground he is laying in as quickly as he can. Punches and claws are flying. He is trying to cause as much injury as he can as quickly as he can to try and weaken Jason.
He has caused a fair bit of damage already. Suddenly he is thrown back. Off Jason. He steadies himself quickly as Jason jumps off the ground. In a split second he is on wade again.
I keep an eye on the fight but my main focus is Xander. He is itching to jump in. I will not allow any interference. Xander is mine. I edge around the crowd until Xander is within reach. I concentrate back on the fight, keeping Xander in my peripheral vision. If he tries to join the fight I will intercept him.
The fight between Jason and wade is fierce. They are pretty well evenly matched. Jason has better fighting technique from his years of extra experience. But wade is young quick and agile.
They are moving so fast you can hardly make out what is even happening. They are both sustaining massive injuries. Jason grabs Wade and throws him back and shifts. This was what I was afraid of. Jasons wolf has 8 years on Wades. It has been hard for me to try and train Wades wolf without suffering extensive injuries myself.
Wade shifts too.
They are standing face to face. It is amazing to see the 2 gigantic black wolves staring each other down. You can hardly tell the difference between the 2. Wade is just a bit more soft and fluffy being more of a pup. They start circling each other. The crowd moves further back. Last thing anyone wants to do is get in the middle of a fight between 2 alpha wolves. You would end up dead quicker than a blink of an eye.
They just circle each other. Sizing each other up. It seems like an eternity. I am on edge. Hoping for the best for Wade and ready to take Xander out as soon as he moves a muscle. Wade is just waiting. Waiting for Jasons attack again. He is still looking reasonably calm. Jason is assessing the competition. He has never actually seen Wade in his wolf form before.
The whole crowd is watching intently. It is anyone's guess who is going to win. Wade winning will send the pack in different direction and they know it. It will be like back in the days of Alpha Jeremy.
After what seems an eternity but in reality was probably only a couple of minutes. Jason launches an attack straight at Wades throat. Wade dodges, but not fast enough. Jason getting his shoulder leaving a big laceration. Wade doesn't even seem to notice. Counter attacking instantly. He grabs Jason by the hind quarters. Clamping down with his jaw and swinging him around. Throwing him as far as he can. I know what he is doing now, he is trying to show Jason his strength to make Jason second guess himself. But Jason seems undeterred. He is up on all fours again straight away launching at Wade. This time wade avoids in time. Jason hitting the ground and sliding to a halt. Wade grabs Jason by the throat. He has got him. He hesitates for a second. Out the corner of my eye I see Xander move. He now has my full attention. He is going for Wades turned back. I grab Xander by the throat and slam him down to the ground. This catches Xander by surprise. I growl
“No one is to interfere”
But the look in Xanders eyes says he is not going to listen. I tighten my grip on his neck. He kicks me off him and jumps to his feet.
I am up too.
Without hesitation Xander has launches at me. Teeth elongated. He goes straight for my throat. I punch him square in the stomach before he reaches me. He doubles over in pain. I use this and knee him straight in the head. His feet lift the ground as he flies back. It doesn't take him long to recover. He comes at me again and I try to knee him again. But he is expecting that and grabs my leg. He takes a large chunk of my calf off. The pain is blinding. But I focus. He thinks he is victorious but. I quickly grab his shirt with one hand and pull him closer to me.
The time for games is over.
I extend my claws and rip out his throat. The light leaves his eyes and I watch as he dies in front of me. I drop his lifeless body at my feet.
I killed my only brother.
But I needed to.
I look at this corpse without the slightest shred of remorse.
I turn back to the fight between alpha wolves.
*Wades POV*
Jason gets my shoulder. I can feel the large wound but I don’t feel the pain I am too focused.
I move on Jason straight away.
I need to show my strength. I need to show him I am a worthy adversary. I need him to second guess himself. I need to instill some fear in him. I grab him on the hindquarters and throw him with all my strength. I send him flying a fair way. But he jumps up undeterred. I see that my jaw has done some damage to his hind quarters. At least that is something. Jason comes pouncing at me again. A snarl on his face and his claws ready to rip anything they come in contact with. I avoid in time this time. I use the opportunity. He is sliding struggling to stop his momentum. I pounce. Grabbing him on the throat. It will be a quick snap of my jaw and he will be gone. I hesitate. No I can't hesitate. The things he has done, the pain he has caused.
But he is still my brother.
I recover. I bite down harder but then I notice Callums and Xanders fight. Xander has just rips out a massive chunk of Callums calf muscle.
My hesitation and loss of focus cost me dearly. Jason shifts under me. My jaws don’t adjust to the size change quick enough. He slips out of my grip. And shifts back again. He dives at my throat. I avoid his wrath only just. I run to the left. Then shift mid air landing on his back as a human. I grip my arms around his throat. He shifts under me. I tighten my grip as he shrinks we hit the ground. I still have him in a headlock. He rips at my arm causing me to lose my grip a bit. He gets out of my clasp and manages to get me in a headlock. He is pressing hard. Blocking my airway. I claw at him trying to get him off me. But his grip is strong. I can't breathe.
This is how I die.
I didn’t save her.
I failed her.
I failed the pack.
I feel my last breath slip away.
