Jules’s mouth tightened as he nodded in agreement.
“What about with Sarah and Natalie?” Cal suggested.
“No,” Audra replied adamantly. “I won’t put them in danger. He’s not afraid of women. He sees them…us as lesser beings that he can dominate.” She rolled her eyes. “He doesn’t understand men who don’t keep their wives, what’s the saying? Barefoot and pregnant?”
“Yeah, that,” Gale muttered. He gave her a gentle hug. “I’m surprised you don’t have at least one kid by now.”
