Heath awoke to the sound of something clattering in the bathroom. Bleary-eyed, he groaned at how stiff his neck had gotten after he’d fallen asleep on Jubilee’s couch. He glanced at the time and yawned. It was four in the morning, and he should head home. He’d stayed after Jubilee had gone to bed, telling himself he wanted to make sure she was all right. What if she got sick from drinking too much? Or called up that asshole who’d been manhandling her? He’d decided he’d sleep on her couch until he could be sure she was out of trouble, or so he told himself. Now, he shivered and wrapped a blanket around himself.
