Tessa's P.O.V
I let the nurse did one last check-up on me before I was allowed to change so I can be discharged for today. Once the nurse had finished the check-up and had cleared me, I was able to change into my comfortable clothes.
"How are you feeling, Tessa?" Sabrina asked me.
"Great. I'm happy to finally get out and eat some real food," I joke.
"Let's stop by some fast food before we go back to my house okay?"
"We're not going to my house?" I asked. Though I feel like I have never been there, it would have been nice to see the place.
"Um no. You are going to be staying with me for a while," Sabrina told me.
"I don't want to intrude on you and your family."
"It's fine. Go get ready and we'll get some food okay?"
"Okay."
I felt a little disappointed that I haven't seen Bradley since he came to see me when I woke up. According to Sabrina, he had to finish up some work he had missed while he was here with me. All of my stuff that was brought here was packed and in Sabrina's car already.
"What are we going to eat?" I asked Sabrina as I walked out of the bathroom in my new clothes. Though it was just a pair of sweatpants, a comfortable t-shirt, and a zip-up hoodie, it was the only thing Bradley had brought me for when I got out.
"Anything you want. You name it."
"In N Out?"
"Of course."
"I miss their burgers and the milkshake."
"Same here. Come on."
The line for In N Out was long as usual which was a perfect time to ask Sabrina about my life before the car accident.
"So, Sabrina. Can you tell me a little more about my marriage to Bradley?" I asked her.
"What do you want to know about your marriage?"
"What was it like? Have I ever talked to you about it?" I asked.
"Yeah, you've talked about it. You were a little unhappy at first since you were forced into the marriage but you two had grown into it. You talked about respectful he is to you, then it turned to how he started to give you all this attention," Sabrina explained.
"Oh."
"Do you plan on staying with him? Give him a second chance?" Sabrina asked me.
"I'm not sure. I was hoping to talk to him soon?" I mentioned.
"Alone?"
"I'll be fine talking to my husband. I just need to sort things out with him," I tell her.
"Okay. Well, call him tomorrow or something. Right now, you should adjust to your new life a little."
The last house I remember Sabrina living in was a bit smaller than what she showed me now. The other thing I remembered before the accident was Sabrina's daughter being a little smaller than how she is now.
"She's gotten so big," I smiled at Juliet as she played with some of her toys in front of me.
"Yeah. You're her favorite aunt," Sabrina teased.
"Are you sure that it's okay for me to stay here for a while?" I asked.
"Of course. I'm not going to let you stay with someone you don't even know."
"He's legally my husband."
"I don't think mom and dad would have felt comfortable with that. Hell, even I didn't feel comfortable with that."
"I appreciate you guys looking out for me but I think you guys are overreacting a little," I tell her calmly.
"We're not overreacting. We thought we almost lost you. We don't want to lose you again," Sabrina explained to me.
"Alright. Alright. Can you at least show me where I'll be staying?" I asked her.
"Yeah. Come on."
"I'm taking Juliet with me," I said before picking her up. I carried Juliet over as I followed Sabrina to my room. I sat on the bed with Juliet before kissing her cheek.
"She's so adorable," I cooed.
"And it's time for her nap time. Just rest up here and I'll call you over for dinner," Sabrina said.
"Okay. Thanks."
I waited until Sabrina was gone to close my door and find my new phone. Bradley had bought me a new one to use. It only had my family member's numbers as well as his for emergencies. I clicked on his ID before calling him. After a couple of rings, he answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Bradley. It's Tessa."
"Hi, Tessa. How are you feeling?" Bradley asked me.
"I'm feeling better. I got out of the hospital today."
"I heard. That's great to hear that you're doing better. Is there anything I can do for you?"
"I was wondering if we can have lunch tomorrow? I wanted to talk to you in regards to our marital status and everything," I tell him.
"Of course. What time would you like to grab some lunch?"
"Is one o'clock okay?
"Sounds perfect."
"Great. I look forward to it."
"I can pick you up tomorrow at your sister's house," Bradley told me.
"Okay. Thank you."
After bidding goodbye to him, I hung up on the phone. I looked around at the temporary room I was staying in before unpacking some stuff for the meantime. As I waited for Sabrina to finish up dinner, I was on my tablet, looking at some old videos about Bradley. I could tell that Sabrina would be disappointed in me for trying to remember or know my husband who was partially responsible for my accident.
In all honestly, I wanted to know more about him and what happened between us but I knew that everyone would be upset at me for even trying after what he has done to me. I didn't want to hold a grudge but I needed to know more about us.
