Ares' P.O.V.
Frances leaped in front of me, shielding us with her large wing as hell fire was spat from a demon's mouth. Her wings were apparently impervious to it, making her perfect for this battle. I see why the gods chose her. The moment the hell fire stopped, she dropped her wing, allowing me to attack. I pushed my shadow out, grabbing a few ghouls and crushing them. They popped like water balloons inside my shadow cocoons, causing blood to leak and splatter as I let their bodies go.
Frances stayed by my side the entire battle, proving to me why she alone was called on. She was strong, agile and had abilities that mixed so well in battle. I called on Andy's light magic, pushing back the darkness around the demons, essentially weakening them further. Frances noticed and used her elf magic beside me, setting ghouls aflame all around us. Her back was towards mine as we fought in a circle. She was small, but she was damn powerful. I kept the visions only 30 seconds out, allowing me to dodge every move. I pulled on Frances with a shadow, helping her narrowly escape a demon's claw. She turned with a nod of gratitude my way.
"Sorry I ever doubted you," she told me before refocusing on the battle.
I could see Petra and Jesse smiling in the distance as if this were some kind of game they were enjoying. Jesse seemed to glow the same way Petra did and I wondered what happened between the two of them. I couldn't see anything about Petra, not her future, not her present, and definitely not her past. I am thinking it's because of the God side of her. I can't see anything that pertains to the gods and their devine plans.
Auggie was fending well in a ring of fire he'd created along with his shadow tendrils. He wrapped countless ghouls in them and threw them aside. He'd throw his flames at the demons, holding them back, but not really hurting them. He kept them back until Frances could slice their heads off with her sword of the righteous. Angels definitely come in handy in a battle against demons.
It took a while but we eventually defeated them all, only coming out battered and exhausted. We had small scraps and bruises, but not a single major injury. Jesse and Petra were laughing like best friends as they approached us.
"I like this one," Jesse pointed to Petra with a smile.
"I can tell," I sounded annoyed, but only because I was ready to get back to El. It's been too long and I'm worried she'll get upset if I don't hurry.
"Rawr, someone is in a bad mood," she macked, clawing at the air like she were some kind of tiger shifter.
"Let's just go. I need to get back to El."
"Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm ready to see her precious face too."
"I guess this is where we say goodbye." Frances smirked at us, seeming to like us more now than when she first arrived. "Or I guess I should say until we meet again. I get the feeling I'll be popping in and out of your lives for a while."
"Oh you will be," Petra confirmed. "I'll be staying by this one's side for the remainder of the year." Petra wrapped her arm around Jesse's shoulders, pulling her in and squeezing her tight against her. "I'm in charge of making sure none of this happens again. Demon’s can't pull on a phoenix because that kind of magic doesn't work on them, so your brother is safe. Your mate will need my kiss to be safe, but Jesse here needs constant supervision. My kiss won't work on her since she's a dark creature."
Petra was blowing my mind with too much information. I furrowed my brow trying to process it all. She laughed as she enveloped us in her white smoke. We were quickly taken away from Frances, and the clearing, and returned home.
"Daddy!" El yelled as she raced towards me. Petra passed her by without a glance, heading straight for Andy.
I watched closely wondering what she was up to when I watched with wide eyes as Petra kissed Andy right on the lips. Andy's eyes were as large as saucers as she stared at me with Petra's lips on hers. Petra kissed her passionately, holding her chin in place and breaking her lips apart with her own. I didn't know how to feel as I watched this play out before me. Thankfully El's little face was buried in my neck as she hugged me tightly.
"That should do," Petra said with a smile and a wink, breaking away from Andy finally.
Just as we were all about to ask what the hell her problem was, Andy began to glow brighter than ever before. The air circled around her like a tornado as her power increased tremendously. This is what Petra meant by her kiss. She gifted a part of herself to Andy, amplifying her power.
"Damn that was hot," Auggie and Jesse said in unison as they stared at Andy and Petra. I am not going to lie, and neither is the bulge in my pants.
That was hot.
"You found Jesse! Good job, Daddy. I knew you could do it." El's little voice snapped everyone out of their dirty thoughts.
"Yes, it's all thanks to you, El. Thank you for your help."
"No problem, Daddy. I am just glad you didn't get hurt. Although, you're a bit smelly now."
We all laughed at her honest comment as I set her back down.
"I should probably shower then."
"Yes, I agree. Mommy and I will be waiting for you to eat. Nana Z said Grandpa K made lasagna for dinner,” El told me.
El loves Kiran's lasagna. It's a daily request that he complies to a little too often. I am so tired of lasagna, and it seems everyone else is too by the way they sighed at El's news.
"Oh, I like lasagna." Petra smiled as she spoke with El.
I think El could sense the power from Petra as she stared at her unsure. She inched closer to me, being shy for once. Andy came over and kissed me next, letting those sparks fly. The ones that reminded me of the growing bulge in my pants.
"El how about you and I play while daddy showers and mommy helps?" Jesse asked, throwing me a wink and an amused smirk.
I smiled back, grateful she understood me so well. I grabbed Andy's hand without a thought and traveled us to the bathroom.
Time to f**k my mate and remind her that she's mine alone.
