I could feel all eyes staring at me as I walked into the party’s entrance. Some look at me with adoration while some with envy. I was wearing a red formal gown, showcasing my curves. Its high slit in the front is exposing my long legs. I could see how they got stunned by my presence as I walked like a runway model on that red carpet with all those cameras flashing on me. Well, I could bet I’m even more gorgeous than those models, that’s the common compliment I get. I flash my all charming smile as the reporters ask me for a pose. This is what I am known for - the media darling, the owner CEO of the leading popular gossip tv show. They admire my beauty. They fear what I can do. Politicians. Businessmen. Big stars. In just a word I could end their career. I could ruin their name. For when it comes to gossip news, the whole world trusts my credibility. I am Addison Williams.
“Oh! That’s lovely Miss Adi! Can you smile one more for us!”
One of the reporters asked which I graciously gave before I exited the red carpet entrance.
I secretly flashed a smirk as soon as I turned back at the reporters. Now my eyes are certainly searching as to what I came here for – Zayden Rhodes.
Zayden Rhodes, the guy who’s known to be a billionaire since he was young. I saw lately in the news that he now formally inherited his family’s wealth. Good for him! I bet he has changed somehow compared to when he was still my husband! We were so young back then! Now, we’re completely different people than how we were before. I’m sure he won’t even recognize me!
There he is!
I must admit he’s drop dead gorgeous in that black suit he’s wearing. It exudes more of his elegance. His well-shaved face stands out amidst the sparkling party lights. And when he smiles, Oh! God! I think I would forget I’m on earth! But I maintain my composure. I must not be carried away by his enchanting face!
Not again Adi! I whispered.
I’m here for work! I reminded myself.
And so I dragged my mind back to focus on those plans I’ve been planning this entire week concerning Zayden.
I’m gonna catch you this time!
“Hi!”
I flash my most charming smile as I greet him. He was alone at that time at his table. He smiled back at me. We had a little chat, and during those little conversations, I made sure he had taken my bait. Later on, I’m sure he’ll be leaving this party with me.
“Cheers…again?”
I giggled seductively. Now, with the way he looks at me, I’m sure he already has fallen to my temptation, to my bait.
C’mon, drink it all up! I was secretly rejoicing as I watched him drink all those glasses of whiskey. Zayden is actually just an occasional drinker, but he’s got low tolerance to whiskey due to his allergy. Yeah, he drinks but just wine.
“Oh…mind if —-”
I moved closer to him, intentionally seducing him.
F**! What’s this? Why are my eyelids drooping? Damn! What did we drink?
I quickly wondered. And soon I realized it was me who got baited all along. I glanced at the liquor glass we’re drinking. It dawned on me that it wasn’t the liquor I set us up to drink.
Quadruple whisky! F** my weakness!
I quickly got knocked out with that!
H–how did this happen?
Zayden’s handsome face was the last thing I saw before I totally passed out.
–
Morning.
My eyes snap wide open. I immediately recalled what happened last night but then I sighed a relief realizing I’m in my own room.
At least Zayden was a gentleman; perhaps he asked my butler to drive me home. Thank goodness. I think.
I quickly got up from my bed but then I cringed feeling my heavy head.
That man! How could he trick me huh?!
Oh no! Abby! I endured my hangover and rushed out of my room realizing that I needed to attend to my daughter. It’s Saturday and she has a piano class. I made a promise to her that It will be me who’ll accompany her.
“Abby…sweetie! Hurry now let’s eat today’s Saturday—”
I pause.
I was tongue-tied.
I was lost for words in a moment.
“Today’s not Saturday, mommy”
Abby’s words woke me from shock.
“Yeah, today’s Friday,” Zayden butted in.
I turned to him.
“How come you’re here?” I asked.
Zayden met my eyes. There’s some trace of firmness on his face.
“Why not? Can’t I be here for my daughter?” he replied.
My daughter! I almost falter hearing those words from him.
“D–did you just trick me last night?”
I asked again because I cannot fathom how all my plans were used against me! It’s supposed to be him who will pass out and not me! It’s supposed to be him whose personal life should be dug up and not me! And today, I am supposed to have the biggest headline about him on my gossip show, but here it turns out to be the opposite! Of course! I cannot tell the world about our daughter! I was digging up for his mistresses! His escapades and whatever f*** issues about him that would thrill the fans!
“How did you know I was the wife whom you divorced? How did you know about Abby?”
Zayden smiled as if seducing me.
“I have known you already before you know me…I always get ahead of you…pretty eyes!” he muttered.
Pretty eyes? Damn! That endearment is bringing back so many memories! Actually, this situation I am in right now? Him. Hangover. All these seem like deja vu! But more than that it’s waking again that pain I felt five years ago. Yeah, all those that shattered my heart into pieces are rushing back to my mind right now. The pain. The humiliation. The betrayal.
“Abby is just mine!” I hissed at him.
The smile on Zayden’s face instantly faded. It was replaced with a frown. “Damn it! She’s also my daughter Adi!” he hissed back.
