1: Stalker
Kimora
I creep silently through the woods until I find what I am looking for. A young man lay in the middle of the clearing, a beanie placed strategically on his head, and though I was a good distance away, I can hear the beat of the music from his headphones. I watch silently, feeling the need to get closer, but knowing that he couldn’t know I was watching him or even that I exist. The only sound to be heard around us was the birds, his music, and our synchronized breathing.
I don’t know how long I watch him, but eventually he sits up, preparing to leave. I blink as he stands, completely, and utterly mesmerized by him. Standing at six foot three, he had shaggy brown hair, and sparkling green eyes. I subconsciously take a step forward, and a twig snaps under my foot. Quickly I press further into the shadows as he looks in my direction. Closing my eyes, I hold my breath, and wait until I hear his footsteps moving away from me, before I open them again.
Carefully I follow him out of the woods, watching as he climbs in his car and drives off. Letting out a sigh, I’m about to turn and leave when I feel something brush my shoulder. A scream tearing from my lips, and without a second thought I turn and punch the offending person square in the face.
My fist is pulled back and I’m ready to swing again when my vision clears, and I see my little brother standing there holding his nose. “Bitch.” He groans in pain, blood dripping down his face.
“Damien!” I snarl. “What the hell?”
“I see you are still being a stalker,” Damien laughs still holding his nose, though the bleeding has stopped. “I wonder how Dad would feel if he knew. I bet he would be pissed.”
“I can’t help it,” I groan. “I’m drawn to him.”
“He’s human Kimi.” Damien gently reminds me, as if I didn’t already know that.
I roll my eyes at him. “No shit.”
“Kimora.” Damien warns, and in that moment, he sounds like Dad.
“I know,” I sigh in defeat. “I know.”
“Maybe you should talk to Dad.” Damien suggests.
“Oh yeah that would go over well,” I snap. “Hey Daddy, I just wanted to let you know that your daughter is in love with a human, and she would like to attend his college in the human realm so that she can get to know him.”
Damien laughs again, enjoying my misery. “he could be your beloved.”
“Maybe,” I groan again. “but I have to be twenty-one to know that.”
“That’s only three weeks away.” Damien points out. Again unnecessarily.
I shrug. “Let’s go home Damien before Dad gets mad.”
It doesn’t matter that we were home before dinner, Dad is obviously pissed when we walk through the door. The lecture we get was epic, and Damien glares at me, making sure I know that he blames me, but thankfully he doesn’t say anything about where we were.
Damien is younger than me by eleven months. We also have two other younger siblings. Devon is five years younger than me, and Evangaline is only three years old. Per our routine, when we sit down for dinner, Mom asks us all what we did today, and before I can respond Damien shoots me a mischievous look. I guess he’s still pissed he got in trouble.
“Kimi was stalking her human again.” Damien grins around a mouthful of mashed potatoes.
My mouth drops open. “Damien, you asshole.”
“Again?” My father, Damon, sighs, and I turn to look at him. “yes Kimora I know about the boy.”
“We’ve known for a few months now,” My mother, Valentina, smiles. “do you think he is your beloved?”
“I don’t know.” I grimace, I don’t want to talk about this with my parents.
“Kimi wants to go to the human realm and attend his college to get know him.” Devon adds with a smirk.
“You little s**t!” I snarls as I lob a roll at his head.
“I will arrange it.” My father muses.
“What?” I turn to gape at him. I must have misheard him.
“If he is your beloved it’s important that you get to know him,” He shrugs with a sly smile. “if I hadn’t done something similar I wouldn’t have met your mother.”
I squeal and jump up from the table running to give my father a hug. “Thank you Daddy. I promise you won’t regret this.”
I’m sitting in my room working on homework from my classes at Etheria Prep, when my father knocks on my door. “How are you doing Kimora?” He asks. He sounds tired, and I am not surprised, running a kingdom is hard work.
“I’m okay Dad,” I smile at him. “is everything okay?”
“Yes,” He nods as he takes seat on the edge of my bed. “I just wanted to inform you that you’ve been enrolled at the college where the boy goes.”
I squeal, but he holds up his hand. “But I have some conditions.”
“Of course, Dad anything.” I nod my agreement.
“You will not be living there, you will come home in time for dinner every night, if you make plans inform us at least three hours in advance. You must also keep up with your studies from Etheria Prep.”
“I understand,” I grin. “I will not let you down. I promise.”
