5. It makes no sense

ANNA Well, if it wasn't the most crazy turn of event, then I don't know what was. Last thing I remembered was yelling in fear at one incredibly attractive motherf*cker who was either a ‘capeless' superhero. . .or a predator saving me for dinner. And now, probably a few hours later, I was in a street that was one of the many routes that led out of the city. And in the midst of three of my friends! Seeing Nika, Nolan and Tasha brightened my day in ways I couldn't express. I remember how everything was hopeless before I fell unconscious. I was worried about protecting myself against zombies, getting k*lled by vampires, and leaving the bloody city. And now, everything seemed alright. All we had to do was find the rest and we would go home. Nolan smiled at me as I sat, with my leg curled like I wanted to say a prayer. He had a cute smile, no doubt. Even more assured, he had a crush on me long before the world ended. We had gone to the same high school, then the same college and had planned to start a business together. We were really good friends and had been for so long. That we were friends was the main reason I made sure it remained that way. What we had was beautiful on its own. “Are you okay?” Nolan asked, his smile becoming even wider. “I guess I am.” I spent the next thirty minutes telling them all that happened. They all felt pity for me considering I had been very unlucky to wander into the vampire territory. In my defense, there was no fancy billboard saying “Welcome to the vampire terrain”. Tasha shook her head for probably the eleventh thousand time since I had begun speaking. “I can't imagine how you felt, it must have been horrible.” “Considering I almost got r*ped and killed, it was more than just horrible.” “Who was the vampire who claimed to have kept you here?” Nika asked. They went on to tell me how they had a guy who had knocked them unconscious and brought them here. “So he basically reunited us and also saved Anna,” Tasha said as she kept shaking her head. “So vampires can actually have compassion.” Nolan wasn't believing that. “Vampires literally have fangs with which they use to suck blood from humans. . .they can never have compassion. Let's not fool ourselves, he probably had his reasons and might be watching us as we speak.” “I can't possibly think of a reason though, maybe he doesn't like bloodshed.” Tasha thought aloud “I think so too." Nika supported. Nolan laughed. “Come on, we can't be this naive. He doesn't like bloodshed? A vampire doesn't like bloodshed? That's should top the list of the dumbest sh*t ever said. Vampires are sadistic, vindictive, animalistic killers, and even worse, we are nothing but food to them.” I just kept quiet. The vampire had succeeded in throwing mystery into my curious mind. “But he saved you, that should count for something.” Nika asserted. “No it doesn't, there was probably some reason behind that." Okay, this was really confusing. This mysterious vampire whose name I did not know, also saved Nolan's life. He had chances of killing literally all of us but he didn't. Still it didn't make any sense. We should be dead! Nolan continued. “Vampires are filthy bloodsucking beings, hell, they don't even have a normal heart nor are they practically alive.” Tasha made a funny face at Nolan. “He seemed pretty alive when we saw him.” “Guys, this isn't a joke, we have to have in our hearts that vampires are never to be trusted.” He turned to me. “Your mother has literally said the same to all of us countlessly." Trying to change the topic, I said, “That is all behind us, somehow we survived a full fledged vampire, and dwelling on why certain things happened or didn't happen will take us nowhere.” Standing and then stretching my muscles. “What I think we need to do is find the others, then we can head back home.” Let's say the others thought that was a bad idea, and it was. No doubting that. Firstly, we didn't know where they were. We had no clue and we couldn't even say if they were together or not, though we strongly suspected that they were. Also, we couldn't risk going into the enemy's camp and then counting that the sexy vamp would come to our aid. As we headed back home, everyone seemed to be very quiet. I knew the whole day had been scary and all that, but it was more than just that. We were scared. We were tired. We were fed up. We couldn't this anymore. How long were we going to keep living like this? How long could we continue living like this? This apocalypse started so suddenly that we felt it would end in a similar manner. It didn't. It became worse and worse and worse. Now, I couldn't remember the last time I saw any human beside the three we harbored at the coven. When would it all end? When? My mind also began to remember the handsome vampire that apparently saved my life. Hmm. It didn't make any sense, it was like a lion guarding gazelle. Why would a vampire save me from another vampire? I have read some much about vampires, and the first you learn about them, besides the fact that they can't die naturally, is that they drink blood. More than just that, they survive on it. They live on it. It vitalizes them and they are vulnerable to it. They can't help themselves, they more or less, can't get enough. Even worse, witches' blood is their favourite. The power in it intoxicates them. Now why would a vampire deny himself the one thing that he craves the most? Even more mind blowing, why would he go through so much to make sure I was safe? It made no sense. I couldn't understand it and that scared me more than the vampire himself. I remembered how weak I felt when the other vampire had me under his control. I had read about the compusive gift of the vampires but still it was incredibly shocking when he did it on me. It was the weirdest thing ever. One would think the vampire would project his mind into mine or psychic or telepathic b*llshit. Nah. All I knew was that he had control of every part of my being besides my mind. All I could do was think but acting wasn't possible. I was like a prisoner in my own body. If I was being sincere, the hot vampire who saved me deserved a thank you. He saved me and Nolan too. Maybe not every vampire was evil, maybe there was good in every species. Whatever the case was, I hoped I never set my eyes on him and his kind. But gosh, he was so freaking cute. I couldn't imagine sucking blood.
