Reme and Lindsey both fell to the floor in a heap when Lindsey jumped on her back. The smaller of the two groaned and looked up. "Why'd you do that?"
"I hate running!"
"And that meant jump on my back?" Reme already felt very comfortable around Lindsey and knew they'd be good friends.
"You're the one that said run faster."
"...What does that have to do with jumping on me?"
"I can't run."
"You're beating the boys at least."
Lindsey scoffed. "They're not even trying."
Taylor slowed his jog down and stopped in front of the two girls who still hadn't gotten up. "Too much running?"
"Yes!"
Kade helped Reme up and Jamie picked his mate up and continued running with her in his arms. "I love you so much." She sniffled staring up at him. He smirked looking forward.
"You're a fast runner." Kade said jogging next to Reme.
"This is me running, I think you might be walking." She exclaimed.
"You have great endurance." He pointed out and she only could keep running.
"Why tell me this?"
"I think you should try some school sports." He shrugged and slowed his jogging to a walk when they passed the coach signaling they were done.
"Me and sports do not work well together. I work better in bed."
Kade raised his eyebrows at her word choice and she pushed his shoulder with a blush. "Not like that."
"I'm sure you're great in bed." Taylor winked sitting on the bench. Her nose wrinkled.
"You won't ever know."
He put a hand to his heart. "I almost felt that."
"I'll make sure you do next time."
He smiled cockily. "I'll be waiting."
Kason rolled his eyes handing Reme and Kade a water bottle. "Thanks." He nodded and slung his arm over her shoulder after she sat down.
"You're thinking of doing a sport?"
"Sleeping is my sport."
"How is sleeping a sport?"
"Sometimes I sleep so hard I need a nap right after."
He licked his lips. "I don't think that's how it works."
"It's how I work."
"You take naps a lot?" Kade asked setting his water bottle down.
"If I wasn't in school I'd be napping."
"Why not sleep during school?" Jamie asked. It's the first time she's ever heard him speak. Reme stared off into space for a moment.
"Let me go rethink my life for a second. I've never thought about that."
"And you say your sport is sleeping." Kade scolds. "Your team mates would be very disappointed."
"Maybe I should try a different sport."
Lindsey nodded quickly. "You should do cheer." Reme instantly shook her head.
"I'm not the cheery type."
"I think you'd be a great cheerleader." Taylor said and Kason smacked him in the back of the head.
"Do you guys do any sports?"
Lindsey spoke for all of them. "I do cheer, Jamie and Kason do basketball and Kade and Taylor do football."
Reme looked at all of them with her nose wrinkled. "You all disgust me. Why would you exercise willingly?"
Kason ruffled his hair amused. "It's not that bad."
"I'd rather support from the sidelines."
"Ooo!" Lindsey smacked her mate leaning forward to see Reme more. "You have to come to the game tomorrow."
"Which one?"
"Basketball."
She looked over to Kason and nodded. "Okay."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"I thought it was gonna be much harder than that."
Reme shrugged. "I'll just nap during the game."
-
"How was school darling?" Reme looked up as her dad ruffled her curls. She huffed fixing her hair.
"It was cool, I met some new friends."
"They're not bad are they?"
She shook her head. "No dad, um two of them are the Alphas." She looked startled at her mother who was doing the dishes when she dropped the glass that was in her hands. "Are you okay?" Her mother picked the unharmed glass up and nodded.
"Sorry, I was just surprised. Are you being respectful, bowing your head, not speaking too much?"
"Yes mom." She lied. She wasn't being disrespectful but she didn't think she needed to do all that.
"Be careful around the Reme."
"It's fine mom." She assured.
"You've never been in a pack, I'm just worried."
Reme kissed her moms cheek and headed upstairs. "Dinners soon!"
"I have a lot of work to make up and I ate a big lunch!" She called before shutting the door not bothering to hear the response.
Quickly changing into some loose clothing Reme crawled into bed and closed her eyes.
Time for a nap
-
The next day at school Reme parked in the schools parking lot much earlier than yesterday which still was late but it was still first period.
Hurrying to her 5th period class she quickly found it. Their school had eight classes that was split into an A, B day schedule. First four on A and last four on B.
"You're late." The teacher muttered looking up from her notes. Reme cringed handing her the late slip.
"Won't happen again ma'am."
"Sit."
She sat down by the only familiar face she saw. Jamie.
"Is it alright I sit here?"
He side glanced her before nodding. He had his notebook out and was doodling some random things. The teacher spoke through the quiet room about some book they were in the middle of reading and Reme couldn't help but feel tired again.
She slept too hard last night
"Take your books out and read from chapter 19. You have a test over 19 through 22 next class." Some groans went around the room and she bit her lip nervously.
"Reme Anderson." The oldish woman called. She made eye contact with her. "Bring me a summary of each chapter from 19 on till we finish the book and that can make up for what you've finished."
"Yes ma'am."
"Start reading."
There honestly was only a few kids who actually read while the others talked. Jamie was not one of those kids, neither was Reme.
"That looks really good."
Jamie slowly closed the notebook and side glanced her again. "Thanks."
"Sorry." She replied awkwardly. She didn't know if Jamie liked her or not. He didn't really talk to her. Granted she hasn't known him long.
He nodded and stared at her. "They like you."
"Who?"
"Everyone." He shrugged.
"Oh, do you?"
He shrugged again. "You don't seem annoying."
"Thanks?"
"Lindsey really likes you." His lips curled up at his mates name. "She wouldn't stop talking about you yesterday after school."
"She's really only hung out with guys since you were little?"
"Yeah."
"How long have you known you were mates?"
"I think our moms knew before we were born. They've been friends for a while."
"Wow. How long have you been friends with the others?"
"I knew Kason and Kade first and I met Taylor through them when we were around 6 I think."
"What're they like?"
"Who?" He asked casually although he already knew.
"Kade and Kason."
Jamie rubbed his jaw in thought. "They're twins." He nodded and she couldn't help but laugh.
"Really?"
"Since day one." He confirmed with a smile of his own.
"Fascinating."
"They're very open, for a better way of putting it."
"Open?"
"To girls?" He said although it came out as a questions.
"They're players?"
Jamie instantly shook his head. "Not in the slightest but they don't mind flirting a bit."
"Won't their mates be mad?"
"I don't think they'd care. They rejected them a while back."
Her face showed her shock. "They rejected their mates? Why?"
Jamie laughed but it sounded forced. "I don't know if they'd want me telling you."
"Come on." She pleaded with a pout.
"They like sharing a mate."
She bit her lip with her eyebrows scrunched together. "That's it? I thought it was going to be something bad."
"Well it's not just that. I don't know, you'll just have to ask them."
"Okay."
"At least you're open to sharing."
"What?"
He looked down at his notebook and started doodling again.
