Chapter 4: Escape My Lips (1)
***
The following days Mason couldn’t get his lover’s words out of his mind. ‘I love you…’ The author still hadn’t given his lover an answer to that confession.
Even though Edward had confessed his feelings multiple times to his lover for the past half a year… Mason still hadn’t said he loved him back even once.
‘Should I just come out and say it?’ He wondered to himself as he prepared breakfast.
“Mei… good morning…” Mick said as he yawned.
“Good morning, did you sleep well?” Mason asked as he turned to look at the man. That was his roomate’s lover, he had slept over in the other room next to his boyfriend.
“I slept well… How about you?” Mick asked as he stood behind the man that was cooking.
“Pretty good…” Mason answered, he went to pick out things from the refrigerator.
“Do you need help with anything?” Mick asked as he saw the other go back and fort to get things he needed.
“No need, it will be faster if I just do it…” Mason said as he kept a blank expression on his face. “You can just go and sit down on the sofa.”
“It feels like you always do so much for us… I feel bad coming here and eating your cooking so often but not repaying you in any way.” Mick said as he went to sit down on the sofa as he was told to.
“It’s not really a big deal, I cook every day for Lucas, so it’s all the same if I feed one person or more.” Mason said.
“You’re really too kind…” Mick looked around, “Didn’t Ed come over as well?” he asked.
“Yes, he was here for a little bit then left. His brother called him back to the company for something.” Mason explained. ‘I’m a bit greatful though… I don’t really know how to face him since he told me he loved me several days ago.’
“You two seem to become closer and closer each day.” Mick remarked as he smiled and leaned back on the sofa. “I know!” he said, suddenly a lightbulb lit up in his head. “How about you stay over at our place? I’ll give you the keys and everything. You can have a super lovey-dovey romantic night there!” Mick suggested, energy began beaming from him, nobody would have thought he had just gotten up out of bed.
“Staying the night at your apartment…” Mason murmured to himself. He’d allowed both Edward and Mick to sleep over at his apartment multiple times but he hadn’t stayed over at their even once.
“I think you’ll love it, oh… but don’t tell him in advance. Surprise him!” Mick said as he went to find his keys.
“That’s… I’m not too sure if he’d want me there…” Mason said as he thought there was a reason he hadn’t ever stayed at the other’s apartment for a night.
“He’ll definitely want you, don’t worry about it! Ed is always complaining how he wants to spend more time with you but doesn’t want to interrupt your work.” Mick explained as he handed his keys over to his friend.
Mason took the keys in his hand and just stared at them for a while. ‘Sleeping over at Ed’s place…’ He still didn’t know what to say to him, since he’s always had a difficult time confessing his feelings, but at the far least he wanted to be around his lover more.
“Ah… also, I’ll tell you a secret. When you go there, go straight to his room. You’ll find something really cute there.” Mick said with a cheery tone.

The same day at nighttime Mason ends up in the other’s apartment. ‘This feels like I’m trespassing… but Mick said it was fine. Nah… it still isn’t fine, I should probably go back…’ Right before the student could head out, he remembered his friend’s words. ‘I wonder what the cute thing I’ll find is…’ Mason thought to himself and went to his lover’s room.
He’s been there before but never really got the chance to look around properly. ‘Edward’s so organized… everything in the room seems so clean and in place. Not your typical guy at all…’ Mason thought as he continued looking around and finally his eyes fell onto the nighstand. There was a book there…
“Ed, really loves reading huh…” Mason muttured as he picked it up and opened it. Inside there was a picture of him and Edward on their first date in the Amusement Park.
“This picture…” Mason was a bit moved looking at the picture his lover was using as a bookmark. It was a bit oldfashioned but sweet none the less. As he took it out and turned it around he saw there was a handwritten date on it and the words: ‘Never been as happy as when I finally met you.’
“So… over the top… cheesy…” Mason was strangely moved by something so simple. He’d never had anyone do something so purehearthedly sweet like this. However it also made him feel all the more strange inside…
Up until this point Edward had been the only one confessing his feelings towards the other… He was always the one making sure to spend time together, and the one to iniciate dates, buy gifts…
It felt like Mason wasn’t contributing nearly as much to the relationship at the other male was.
‘I should definitely do something for him… The massage really wasn’t enough…’ Mason thought as he closed the book. Then began thinking on things his lover liked…
