"Are you sure you're okay? You seem pretty lost in thought."
Gabi inquired for the second time over, her concern warming my heart. I could feel Angelo's blue gaze on me through the viewing mirror as Nico frowned in response to the events he had, no doubt, been briefed on.
"I'm fine. I promise. I guess I just have a lot on my mind with Rhoan's ascension coming. There is a lot to be done before and after then but I guess we should focus mainly on getting through the whole thing. I'm guessing you'll be returning to Chicago after?"
I changed the subject swiftly and if Gabriella noticed it, she didn't say a thing. My men's gazes were enough to call me out, though. They knew something wasn't quite right and I chastised myself for not masking my emotions properly.
