Chapter 18

965 Words
Archie looked up when she emerged out of the bathroom her every hair in place, her make-up was subtly renewed. The mask was back, he thought sardonically and this time set in concrete. A piercing twist of hunger took him by surprise. Irritated he tried to banish it but Casper wouldn’t let it go. “Archie I want to eat her.” Casper growled.” She is looking like a siren inviting us to feast.” “Stop it Casper we need to control ourselves we can't take advantage of her in this situation,” Archie growled. Why did she enrage him so much? Because she had turned her royal status into her lifestyle? A clearly profitable lifestyle, if her wardrobe was anything to go by. No that was unfair her clothes were almost certainly advertisements for the designer she had been working for. What the hell did she did the muse do? Nothing he suspected beyond attracting attention and showing off the designer clothes made for her. If so the designer had chosen well as Amelia Alexandra had connections to the royal families all over the world and she looked superb in the subtly sensual clothes that draped her elegant body and she could advertise it really well. Not to alter the fact that Archie despised people who played on to the heritage of  the title or the position. Yet he did not seem to be able to despise Amelia Alexandra, he reminded himself he had not only invited her to stay with him he had organized a holiday for her brother to keep him out of troubles and also offered him an internship in his company. So why was he pushing his way into her life? Because she was a challenge? No beacause he has his own reasons. He dismissed the thought as he never regarded women as trophies the harder to win the more prestigious. As for her brother well he really liked that little boy and from his experience, he knew that he had the potential to become the future  Alpha just like his father. But he was not sure what was he up to so he meant to find it out as soon as possible because any rebellious movement in Halland would affect Varmland too as they were neighbors and now that his sister was married to Harry he had to make sure that no harm comes to them. Not that Lucas would do anything stupid. And the Princess? She intrigued him very much. Reduced the most basic level he wanted. And in both ways, he was too experienced to misread the quick fluctuations of color in her exit exquisite skin the subtle alteration in her breathing, the tiny physical signal she couldn't control, while she was around him. Fighting it with everything she had and she was certainly doing that very well. The elegant princess Amelia couldn't hide her response to him. Yet she had made it plain she resented the mindless tug of desire and had no intention of acting on it. Which probably meant that just as the attraction was mutual so was the exasperation. It seemed a waste but she decided to make and he won't force her to do anything she didn't want. He glanced at her beautiful face as she lowered herself gracefully onto the chair and picked up a magazine again. Last night the woman who had finally wrecked her parent's marriage and possibly caused their death had said that Amelia was on the lookout for a rich husband. He despised the woman and himself for not being able to burn to banish her words from his mind. And lady Louise was a very wicked and cunning woman who would do anything for her gain. she had so many pursers when Amelia's father rejected her but she was very stubborn and she wanted to ruin their lives and finally was the cause of their death that is why she was banished from both the kingdoms and only allowed occasionally to attend few functions in Varmland because Harry's mother was lady Louise’s younger sister, Perhaps Amelia was saving herself for marriage although he had heard rumors of a couple of serious relationships. since when had he followed himself to worry about rumors? Elegant intelligent, beautiful and well  mannered Princess with social skills to spare would be the perfect wife for any man who could afford her. With Harry’s marriage,  a sure thing Amelia had seen him certainly not royal but rich and well connected and possibly and the second best. And if Amelia knew about the conspiracies her brother was plotting he would be a scapegoat to achieve their goal wasn’t  he was a very good catch. “Are you kidding me you are thinking too much, I don’t think the poor girl known anything about her bothers conspiracies so you should chill Archie?” Casper refuted back. After hearing what Casper had to say Archie shrugged. It wouldn't be the first time a woman had pursued him for reasons of her own and he doubted if it would be the last. And if Princess Amelia thought she could manipulate him into anything with coyness she was hugely mistaken. He might find her very attractive but he was fully in control of office s****l urges. If she had wondered whether he was good husband material she was clearly not having second thoughts. On that bed she had moved out into his arms as though he had been the unknown terrifying pursuer of her dream.   But perhaps he thought clinically, she had decided that given it too soon would lower her value in his eyes. He was surprised at his relief when the arrival of the steward offering soups before the meal interrupted his thoughts.
