She shot him a questioning glance, parrying a look that sent a quiver to the full length of her spine. He let his gaze wander across her face, finally settling it on her lips. A sense of excitement smoldered through her.
Oh Dammm.......she thought with a triumph so complete, she could feel it radiating through her, he was flirting with her. And she was going to respond. She had not been able to forget the way he had looked her the previous year at the engagement party and since then no man could break through the attraction she had for him. Somehow she felt she belonged to him.
She was bad at flirting and before she tried she had to know something. That suspect recklessness gave her the courage to say. “I am surprised you are alone today, I didn't see your partner with you.”
Archie's latest lover was a beautiful leggy blonde, top Model. And rumor had it that he was the reason she had become the top Model in such a short period but Amelia found that difficult to believe it as many women threw themselves at him but there was not much news about him in the gossip columns.
However, she thought that with another spurt of cynicism, what did she know about him? Nothing, except that he had used his formidable intelligence, a ruthless drive, and an uncompromising authority to build a worldwide business empire. And had control over many countries.
Archie's tone was a little awkward. “Why are you asking me? When you can see that I am all alone today. It's my sister’s wedding and I am supposed to entertain my guest. And I am not dating anyone at present.”
He said it in such a way that Amelia could feel much too obvious invitation in his words.
Amelia contended herself with a nod and kept her eyes fixed on the DJ behind him. He was an excellent dancer, moving with the musical beats, muscular grace of an athlete, and wearing his formal clothes with a kind of elegance that proclaimed the powerful body beneath.
‘So what's are you planning to do after this wedding....attend more weddings huh? Archie asked coolly.
“More weddings? No, one else I know is getting married in the immediate future, so I don’t think I have any more social activity this year,” she replied to his query.
He met her glance with a glinting one of his own. “You are happy just doing the social rounds aren't you?”
After a few minutes, Amelia replied, “Actually I am planning to start my own business.”
Archie's gaze sharpened. “Wow, you surprise me, princess, I thought you had settled into being the best TV presenter and an occasional model.”
“Well, I decided that my designer needed a new one.” She told him with amusement in her voice.
“Poor girl, she was dumped by that designer,” Casper commented.
“Yeah looks like it,” Archie said thoughtfully unaware of what was going on in her head.
She was fed up with Diana her designer who had hired her to model her clothes and gave her a fixed salary every month but recently she had been noticing that she was eager to hire a new model rather than use her so she decided to call it quits.
She had no illusions why Diana had originally chosen her back then, she had the social circle and Diana wanted to get closer to her circle. She had become the face of her designs in every social event representing her designs and because of her, she was getting famous. But it had always been a problematic relationship, although Diana referred to her as her favorite model she had never allowed her to speak her opinion. And now that she had made her reputation she did not need her anymore.
So Amelia decided to quit instead of being dragged like a lifeless doll all around the social events.
Archie looked at her for a few seconds asked curiously, “So what are you planning to invest on, maybe I can help?”
“Tourism and hospitality.” She answered.
“She is amazing !” Caper exclaimed and Archie rolled his eyes.
She was looking forward to it. She had just gotten a small inheritance from her maternal grandfather who was a very rich business man in Sweden. And added to that money she had earned from her modeling career it would provide enough money for her brother to finish his university and her living expenses and with the rest of it she could start a new business.
“I suppose you have figured everything out. Will you continue presenting on the television?” Archie's dismissive tone made it quite clear what he thought of her profession.
“Of course.” loyalty to her producer made her give him, the first stiff response. “They took a chance on me and I have always done my best to live up to their expectation.”
Why on earth was she justifying herself to this man? She wondered.
She tried to ignore a turbulent flutter beneath her ribs when she met his enigmatic gaze.
“But the tourism industry? It is a far cry from modeling why do you want to go around traveling into the wilderness and ruining your skin. When you can sit at home and enjoy your ancestor's wealth.” He said sarcastically.
“Hey buddy, can’t you be gentle.” Casper groaned with frustration.
“I am just trying to talk, don’t make a fuss Casper.” Archie scolded him.
Allowing a hint of frost to chill her world said. “I want to take the tourism industry to the next level as the tourism industry is growing all over the world and my country is so beautiful I want people to come and see it with their own eyes and I don’t like to sit ideally. I m a working woman.”
“Well, your title and social status will see that you succeed,” Archie commented with amusement, and something tickles inside his body as he knew Casper got irritated.
His comment delivered a severe blow to her and hurt her feelings, especially since she knew there was an element of truth to it.
Amelia had her tears with her long lashes. “It will help. But to succeed I will need more than that.”
“And you think you have whatever it takes?” Archie asked curiously.
“Not again !” Casper exclaimed.
“I know I have,” she said calmly.
“You go girl,” Casper said happily and Archie was amused as Casper never behaved in such away. It seems his wolf likes this woman.
Archie laughed and pulled her more tightly towards her as they swayed their bodies on the floor and his smile mashed through her defenses as she could feel his arms around her and the subtle connection with his body, the brush of his thighs against her, and his sweet husky breath was driving her crazy.
“You know what princess, I think you can do it,” Archie said confidently and Amelia was shocked but she smiled and said.
“Thank you,”
His expression gave nothing away. He was far too handsome and Amelia was far too aware of his dangerous charisma.
Casper was giggling as he whispered. “Well, now you are talking.”
