Chapter 4“Did you sleep well?” Gerulf asked as he appeared in Cailean’s kitchen on Wednesday morning to find him fixing breakfast. He put his backpack down before giving Cailean a hug. “Too well,” Cailean grumbled, hugging him back. Gerulf c****d his head in question. “Is that possible?” “Yeah.” Cailean paused to stir the eggs he was scrambling. “I was sort of hoping I’d have another dream-memory so I’d learn more about what happened before I was banished. Instead, I slept like the dead.” “Give it time. My guess would be a lot will come back when we get closer to the Ridge because then you’ll be in familiar territory.” He gave him a reassuring kiss, and then asked what he could do to help with breakfast. “Make coffee?” Gerulf laughed. “My specialty.” He did, Cailean finished cooking
