An hour later, I was in the waiting room of the hospital. I had been here the entire time and rode in the ambulance with the stranger. I didn’t want him being alone and wanted to wait until his family had arrived. I was pacing up and down, waiting to hear some kind of news from the doctor. I didn’t want to see anyone die, but for some reason, it was important to me that he especially didn’t die. Suddenly, I heard voices down the hallway, the tone sounded aggressive and panicked but they were speaking in Spanish with the occasional English word. I peered out from the waiting room and noticed an older man that was the spitting image of the guy I had helped earlier, his features were similar and they spoke the same language.
“Where is he?!” He shouted and the guy next to him held his arm back to restrain him. I took in a deep breath and walked towards them.
“Excuse me?” I called out and they turned their attention to me.
“Are you looking for a young guy, dark hair, brown eyes, that has come in with a stab wound?” I asked politely and their eyes narrowed.
“You’re the one that saved him?!” The older man exclaimed, his tone softer and heightened with excitement.
“Well, I’m the one that called the ambulance” I corrected him and his concerned frown turned into a smile.
“You saved my son, gracias” he thanked. I smiled at him and the younger guy next to him grinned at me. It was quiet for a moment before I realised what I was going to tell them.
“Your son, he is in surgery at the moment. That’s all I know unfortunately but he is being taken care of” I reassured him and he nodded to me with appreciation. I had decided to wait a little longer until I knew how his operation went. I know that I won’t sleep if I didn’t. A doctor appeared from the operating theatre, ready to tel us how the stranger was doing.
“Leonardo’s stable and we have managed to stop the bleeding. He is in recovery at the moment but will be out in the next few hours, depending on how quickly he recovers from the anaesthetic” he explained. I heard his dad sigh with relief and I smiled to myself, knowing he was going to be okay. I didn’t even know the guy and already I’m anxious for him to recover.
“I’ll be going now, I’m glad everything is okay” I said before heading towards the door.
“Wait, don’t you want to see him?” The guy next to Leonardo’s dad asked.
“I’ve got to be at work in a few hours, I really need to go home and get some sleep”I explained.
“Thanks again” the dad said sincerely and I walked out of the door after flashing him a quick smile.
After I had finally made it home and tucked into bed, I couldn’t stop thinking about ‘Leonardo’. He was utterly gorgeous and incredibly masculine. His arms were muscular along with his rock solid abs. I remember brushing them slightly when trying to lift his shirt. At the time I didn’t really take notice of them, but now I’m not in a panic, I can picture them perfectly in my imagination. Soon enough, I fell asleep to the thought of his delicious physique.
“Morning shell” I greeted the colleague on shift with me this morning.
“Hey hun” she greeted back. Her brown hair was short and curly and it dropped to her shoulders. She had bright blue eyes and she was tiny, she was smaller than me. However, she had such a big personality and she always got on with everyone she meets.
“Got up to anything this weekend?” I asked her as we placed the stacks of clothes out onto the shelves and clothing rails.
“Had a load of junk food and been watching tv, so not really. What about you?” She asked and I sighed deeply which caught her attention.
“Bit hectic actually, I saved a man’s life” I confessed. Shelly widened her eyes at me and gasped “what?!”
“Yeah, he was thrown from a car with a stab wound so I called an ambulance and kept pressure on his wound until they arrived” I told her.
“Damn, was he hot?” She asked cheekily and I chuckled.
“Extremely” I admitted.
“Hopefully he will give you a thank you f**k for saving his life” Shelly laughed and I rolled my eyes. Shelly was such a lovely girl, but she was a little too experienced in the bedroom department. It was up to her what she did with her life.
“I’m with Austin, I’m not a cheat” I laughed.
The day dragged by and I stood at the check out desk with my phone in my hand.
Austin
Hey, how you doing today?
Maria
Yeah I’m okay, just tired after last nights drama.
Austin
I’m really sorry about how I left, I should have been there for you and not just drive off. How about you go home after your shift and I will come round later on. We can have a chilled evening watching films and eating snacks
I smiled at the screen, however I was suddenly overcome with guilt. I haven’t stopped thinking about Leonardo and it’s not fair on Austin. I need to sort myself out and forget about him. Maybe this will be a start.
Maria
That’s sounds perfect, I’ll give you a ring after my nap.
