Chapter 4

Finally, the weekend had arrived. I was excited to get completely f****d up and forget about Leonardo for one evening. Ever since meeting him, he’s been like a parasite to my mind. I couldn’t stop no matter how hard I tried and all I seemed to do was think about him. I threw on my dark red crop top and my white tight jeans. I grabbed my white heals and buckled them round my ankles. My hair was tied up in a messy high pony tail, my make up was perfectly contoured and everything I needed was in my clutch bag. I made my way to the front door and entered the taxi that I had called to go to the club. 

There was a long line of people out the front, waiting to go through security. My eyes scanned each person, looking for Austin and our group of friends. I paid the taxi driver and hopped out. 

“Hey baby” I heard Austin’s voice from behind me as I shut the door. 

“Oh, hey” I said with surprise. 

“You ready? We got a vip booth already upstairs, no need to go through security” he explained and took me to the side door he had come out of. We walked up the carpeted stairs that matched the red walls, vibrating from the bass of the music. We entered the room and was met by the group of friends we were spending the night with.

“There you are Maria! We thought you had gotten lost” Crystal said spitefully. I snarled at her and decided not to retaliate. I grabbed one of the shots and threw it down my neck instead. 

“Ignore her, she’s just jealous of you that’s all” Katie said. Katie is my closest friend. She had long blonde hair and hazel coloured eyes she was wearing a navy blue dress that stopped halfway down her thigh. She was cupping two glasses of champagne and held one out to me.

“Get that down you and we will go down to the dance floor for a dance” she grinned. I returned a smile back at her and downed the glass of champagne. We took two shots and headed towards the dance floor. Austin was chatting to the lads in the room so we left him to it.

The dance floor was packed with horny couples grinding against each other. Me and Katie chuckled at their attempts to pull and mimicked a few of their moves together sarcastically. We had a little bit of attention from other guys, but didn’t pay them any back. 

After a few songs I shouted against Katie’s ear. “Shall we go and get a drink?!” I yelled. 

“Yeah, we’ll grab one and go for a smoke” she replied in the same tone and volume. We headed to the bar and ordered a couple of cocktails. Once the bartender handed us the drinks, I reached into my bag to grab the money to pay him. I felt a large hand gently stop me from going through with the transition. I looked up and was startled to see Leonardo grinning at me. He spoke to the bartender in Spanish, to which the bartender nodded and went to serve the next person.

“What did you say to him?” I asked and he grinned at me.

“I told him that your drinks were on the house”. I looked confused for a moment and turned to Katie who was completely lost. 

“But why would he listen to you?” I interrogated and he chuckled. 

“Eres linda” (you’re cute) he said to himself. 

“Because I pay him, I own this club” he said loudly so I could hear him. My eyes widened and I parted my mouth slightly.

“Really?!”

“Don’t look so shocked, I own a few clubs. But my father owns a lot more business than I do, I’m just starting out” he informed me. Sexy and successful, this guy really intrigues me. 

“We were just going outside for some fresh air, want to join us?” I asked without a second thought. He smiled and replied “lead the way hermosa”. Knowing what that word meant made my cheeks turn red and I grabbed Katie’s hand to guide her through the crowd. 

Once we were outside, Katie pulled out two cigarettes and handed me one. Leonardo narrowed his eyes with disgust and blurted out “you smoke?!”.

I stared at him, slightly confused as to why he would care. 

“Socially” I replied. 

“It will kill you one day, you know that?” He sternly stated and I chuckled.

“I thought you were a bad boy?” I flirted and he smirked.

“What gave you that impression?”. I lit the end of the cigarette and inhaled deeply before blowing out a puff of smoke. 

“I can just tell” I grinned. I watched his body tense from my flirtatious glare and he bit his lip. Katie cleared her throat and said “I’m still here you know”. I laughed and then apologised.

“This is Katie, my best friend. Katie, this is Leonardo” I introduced. She blushed slightly as Leonardo took her hand and kissed it gently.

“So this is the damsel in distress” she joked. Leonardo found her statement amusing and let go of her hand. We continued chatting and Katie finished her cigarette.

“I’m going to head back in, it was nice to meet you Leonardo” she said politely.

“You too señorita” he smiled. 

“I’d better get back in too, I’ve left Austin inside” 

“Austin?” He scoffed.

“My boyfriend”. Leonardo looked troubled by the information and look a step back from me. 

“Don’t let me keep you” he bit his lip and raised his arm to the door. 

I made my way back to he booth, concerned by Leonardo’s jealousy. I hardly knew him and he seemed to be disheartened by the fact I had a boyfriend. I found it quite flattering really. I entered the booth and found Crystal talking to Austin. I rolled my eyes at her desperation as she laughed at him. I headed over and interrupted. 

“Something funny?”. Austin turned his attention to my impatience and he wrapped his hand around my waist. Crystal flashed me a dirty look and then grinned at me smugly. 

“Your boyfriend is just a funny guy” she teased and I scowled at her.

“Yep, at least someone is” I snapped. Crystal just chuckled and headed back over to the drinks table. I looked up at Austin with a cautious glare. 

“What?” He asked and I shook my head at him in disappointment.

“I leave you for 5 minutes Austin and she’s already trying to suck you off” I growled. 

“Don’t be silly Maria, we were only talking” 

“So now your defending her?” I snapped at him and he lowered his brows.

“I’m not defending her babe, I’m explaining what had happened”. I sighed and then wrapped my arms around his waist. 

“I’m sorry I just can’t stand her sometimes” I said and kissed him on the lips. He returned my kiss passionately and I felt his arousal grow inside him. 

“Babe, I’m really tired, can we just go home?” I asked him and he put his hand onto my arse.

“Great idea” he replied and kissed at my neck. I was too pissed off and drunk to have s*x with him tonight. I placed my hand to his chest to stop him.

“Not tonight babe, I just want to curl up and snuggle” I told him and the look of annoyance wiped across his face.

“You always want to snuggle Maria...” he placed his hand to my groin and kissed my neck before continuing.

“I wanna have a little fun tonight”. I could smell the alcohol on his breath and pushed him away with more force.

“Stop it Austin!” I exclaimed and his tone turned aggressive.

“For f**k sake Maria, how long are you going to keep me waiting. A man has needs to you know?”. I frowned at him and then huffed. I grabbed my clutch bag and brushed past him.

“Where are you going?!” He yelled.

“Home!”
