“Abhay you will go for the truck and take out the two guards first, then you drive it away to safety. Me and Wolf will wait till the noise of the truck awakens them and open up giving you covering fire clear”
“And what about you” Matt shrugged his shoulders
“The children are the priority here not me or Wolf” Abhay was not happy with Matt’s plan and wished there was another way, there wasn’t. “This will cause a lot of trouble and death Matt” he smiled at his friend
“Me and death are old friends and know each other well, Give me two minutes to get into position then make your approach I’ll await your sign.”
“I will not forget this my friend you have my word of honour that whenever you ask I will come no matter what.”
The two men shook hands then Matt and Wolf left, Abhay waited counting the time in his head then he set off. Luck was on his side this night as he approached one of the guards walked to wards where he was hidden and turned his back to Abhay and started to take a dump.
Abhay’s knife slide across his throat soundlessly and he lay him down before moving in on the next guard. His scimitar glided silently from its scabbard the guard just had time to register the blade before his head was rolling on the ground.
Abhay climbed into the cab of the truck and before trying to start it he put it in first gear, taking a deep breath he turned the key it took the engine three turns before it started. Hitting the gas and dumping the clutch the truck jumped forward.
Abhay never looked back and went through the gears as if the devil was behind him, even the screaming from the children had no effect he sped on.
Matt smiled as he left then went to work sprinting through the camp throwing grenades into tents as he went, the whole area was now alive with screams and curses. Matt was in his element and killed freely with his pistols and his big battle knife, Wolf was just as busy tearing through the camp Matt now headed for section of ground he’d picked to continue the fight.
There was total confusion to start with in the camp but now there leaders were organising the men, not before Matt had made it to his chosen spot. The only thing he’d not realised was just how many armed men there were and it was too late now.
Matt estimated there were still around twenty men left and he only now had eight rounds in one of his browning plus five in Eva the other rounds had been lost in a collision with an armed man, s**t happens he thought .
Wolf had been hit twice and was bleeding Matt wrapped what bandages he had over the wounds, smiling he stroked his head. “Time for you go, up that path and back to the truck.”
Wolf growled and stayed put “This is not a time for dying my friend, my granddad told me once. There’s a time to fight and a time to not fight, this is one of them times. Now go.”
Wolf moved to edge of the rock stopped and looked back “I’ll be right behind you” Matt lied he needed to put some covering fire down to aid Wolf’s run up the path. Matt leapt onto the path shoving Wolf ahead of and opened fire.
Six rounds six kills and Wolf was away, now the child kidnappers were being extra careful as there was now only fourteen of them left. The gang started to move in Matt was ready the strange thing was Matt felt that he had always been ready.
Suddenly there was a sound from the top of the path Matt knew instantly what it was. Wolf appeared with three full magazines in his mouth and Atom at his side.
“Alright Boss aint missed the party ave I” he smiled and reloaded now the grim reaper would have his hands full.
Matt and Atom spread out to give them a wider field of fire as the gang opened up and advanced, bullets were bouncing around the rocks Atom took out two more with a short burst while Matt got another one. The gang was now advancing on a wide front when from over the top of a big rock came an inhuman scream and Abhay sailed over it firing two AK47s from the hip, with his long black hair flowing and with his wild eyes wide open and teeth bared he looked like death its self swooping down.
The gang broke and ran Matt shot three more, Atom sent a long burst into the retreating ranks killing most of them and Abhay now had his scimitar in one hand and a pistol in the other he finished off the rest, or so they thought. Just then a motor bike shot from the rear of the camp with two men on board and was travelling fast in the opposite direction.
Matt took Eva off his shoulder and in moments she was assembled, “There to far Matt” said Abhay
“They aint far enough me old son” replied Atom. Matt took aim the bike was now over 800 meters away and moving fast, Matt fired and to Abhay’s amazement the bike crashed.
Abhay sprinted after the fallen bike while Matt and Atom took care of the camp, minutes later everything was ablaze and Abhay was dragging a man after him kicking and punching him as he went.
Back at the truck Yema was treating all the children the sight of the man Abhay was dragging along made some cringe others wet themselves and when one small girl screamed he punched his captive hard.
According to Abhay’s eldest daughter the man he had was the leader Atom tied him securely to a rock and sat guard along with Wolf. It was decided to let the children rest until morning before they set off back to camp. Abhay spoke to Matt
“Will you and Atom get into trouble over this” Matt smiled
“If we do then it was worth it my friend” Matt put out his hand to Abhay who took it and Matt said.
“My hand is my heart always”
“Mine also my friend”
“Taking of trouble what will happen about that official you decked”
“My family has many connections and my mother is a force to dealt with and not one to cross, I will be fine thank you”
Yema came over to the two men “All the children are a sleep I want to deal with the leader Abhay, he has information and I intend to get it.”
Her face had hardened and in her hand was a small knife. “Matt its best you and your friend do not see this” Abhay ran the outside of his hand down her face. “Are you sure I can do this” Yema pushed her face against his hand and held it there for a moment.
“No my husband a great warrior you maybe but I know how to get the information we need, he will have to be gagged to start with so as not to awaken the children.” All three walked over to Atom and Wolf if the leader was looking for mercy then he would find none here this night.
“Yema would like a word with our friend Atom” said Matt
“What on her own he might get away Boss?”
Before Matt could reply Abhay tied a gag around the leader’s mouth pulling it extra tight cutting the man’s lips, but that was the least of his worries right now. Abhay looked down on the hapless man sitting on the ground and took his rifle off his shoulder and spoke to Atom.
“He will not get away my small friend”
Atom stared hard at Abhay he was like most small men a bit touchy about his height and Abhay now realised what he had said.
“I mean no offence Atom”
“None taken...yet next time will be different though savvy” Atom grinned, Abhay nodded then smashed his rifle but down twice on each leg of the leader shattering his knee joints. The man’s eyes almost shot out of his head and Atom looked at him for a moment before saying
“Looks like you’re not going to make it into the Indian sprint team this Olympics. Not unless they have a one metre dash” then he burst into his machine gun laughter.
Yema spoke to all three men “It’s going to be best if you do not see what I am going to do” Matt and Abhay agreed not Atom. “No way luv I’m staying, you crack on and do whatever you like to the kiddie fiddler you never know you may want a hand” he smiled all the time never taking his eyes off the leader.
It was over two hours before they both returned Yema went to wash the blood from herself Atom said I’m off to Zeds Ville in the land on nod” and went straight to sleep next to the truck.
Yema returned with some strange news it would appear that the official that Abhay punched out was a good customer of the gang along with many others; she repeated what he’d told her and Abhay promised he would deal with them all.
Sue looked at Yema gone was the nice old Indian lady here was a hard woman with a small wicked smile on her face.
“So you see Sue without Matt’s help we would not have what we have now, More tea?”
“Yes thanks”
Yema got there tea and sat back down. “I know Abhay is old now but you should have seen the two of them when they set off across to the gang’s camp. Sue they looked like gods going into battle, yet Matt hardly seems to have changed much at all. Strange”
“What happened to the two girls you found in the garage?”
“Abhay found their parents but they did not want them back, it’s lucky I was not there some people do not deserve to have children. So we found homes for them here in the village, ones now a judge and the other works with the child protection unit. There both doing well and have families of there own.”
Sue smiled she liked a happy ending; they spent the night with Abhay and Yema before setting off again.
Chapter 2
Taking the back roads took a lot longer than Sue had thought Matt did not seem to be rushing and never used the map, she was amazed how he knew all the roads and tracks.
They stopped for the night near a rocky outcrop and Matt prepared the meal Bacon burger nothing new there then Sue thought not she would have had it any other way all that was missing was the river and the humidity. “As a matter of interest did Abhay get into trouble after the rescue of the children?”
“No his mother intervened she was a strong hard woman and well connected and yes Abhay did go back to village and sort out the reminder of the conspirators”
“Good and the official?”
“Not too sure although I did hear he was found month’s later very badly beaten with his balls smashed beyond repair”
“Abhay”
“Who knows I never asked”
Sue smiled to herself rough justice but the right outcome Matt was right children should be protected at all cost as they are the future. Wolf rested his head on her lap and got the stoking he was after, which brought a thought into Sue’s mind which then formulated into a question and now it was in her head she had to know.
“How did you meet Wolf?”
“Ah now that was a strange thing this one may take some time”
“Well I’m not going anywhere so let’s have it”
“This is going to be thirsty work I may need a coffee”
“You only had to ask” Sue got up and poured them both another coffee then sat next to Matt and looked into his eyes. “What” he said smiling she shook her head “Nothing you can start now”
“Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin. Do you remember the bare knuckle fight I told you about?”
“How could I forget it still brings a tear to my eye” Matt chuckled “Well it was not long after that when Deny McBride came to our house.”
Deny knocked the door Jono waited behind him, Emma opened it and looked at the two big men standing there. “Yes” she said and not in a polite way either, “Is Matt there” Deny asked “Why who wants to know” just then George walked up to the door. “Alright George” said Deny “Deny, come in you want a cup of tea” “Nah I’m here to see Matt and you” George gulped “What’s he done now?”
