I stared at the comment, unable to look away as my eyes filled with hurt tears. I’d been so excited when I saw the notification somebody had responded to me, but now all I felt was shame. Whoever this Roger was, he was right. I must’ve been high on bleach fumes to think for a second that just because I’d had the nerve to walk into my house with different colored hair, I had done anything notable. I wasn’t even courageous enough to face my parents right away, staying in bed until I’d been sure both of them had left for work. What had I been thinking?
