CHAPTER 7

1276 Words
The wind is swirling up high, burning the flames of the fire which engulfed the home of wild animals. There is blood and chaos everywhere, but the shadows are dark and creepy. Somewhere in a stranded corner, a small cub is sobbing quietly. Nearby, a lifeless body of a wolf is lying in a pool of blood. Upon inspection, it's a female wolf and a mother of that poor cub. The flames are rising up to the sky like someone set the night on the fire. The temperature increases as the fire and the flames engulf more and more of the area. The little cub tries harder to drag the limp body of his mother. No one wants woe and heartbreak in their life but we all have to pay a price for our sins. A loud growl terrifies the poor cub as he gasps loudly. The cub turns sides to look out for the voice but despite flames and fire, he can’t peek through the emptiest darkness of the dense woods. A figure appears out of bursting flames and approaches the small, terrified cub. Over towering him with his shadows, he growls loudly as screeching. The terrified cub runs into the dark woods, claiming for his life but the laughter echoes from all the directions until he reaches a dead end. As the cub turned back, he saw elongated, sharp canines and hungry eyes at him. Onyx My vision blurs from the tears dwelling in my eyes. The truth and realisations always hit hard on the weakest nerves. Some cope well with it and some deny the truth like it never exists and rest stays in dilemma and confusion. I am standing on the edge of a cliff of my dilemma. “Onyx. say something.” Mom said. I wipe my tears and look at them, glare at them actually, “why did you guys tell me this to me now?” “I know we are late but you have every right to know about yourself.” Dad states. “No! It doesn’t matter if I know about my adoption or no. it doesn’t matter if you are my real parents or not. You raised me and you will be my parents forever. But this s**t hurts.” I cried. Mom put her hands on my back to calm me down. “Love! I know that it hurts and this is the reason why we never put up the courage to tell you the truth.” she explains. “Okay! I got your point but why now?” i eye. Mom stays silent and Dad is confused. I don’t know what they are thinking and what they will explain to me. “Son, we are sorry.” Dad apologized. “No! Please! Don’t apologize. You guys give me a life. You are my saviour.” I try to smile slightly. “I am one of those lucky bastards who got real parents in adopted ones.” “I am glad you are accepting it. We should have told you this earlier.” Mom said. I shook my head, “who were my real parents and what happened to them?” I ask in a depressed voice. “I am afraid to say but I know nothing about them, I found you near my truck when I was at work. We called the police and hospital if anyone lost their child but no clue was found. Your Mom wanted to adopt you that day we found you.” Dad narrates the story. “It’s okay, dad! I was being emotional.” I smile and hug them. They hug me too. “What an emotional ride of a roller coaster!! Who wants a piece of carrot cake?” Mom asks. “Me!!!” Dad and I scream in unison. The night was heavy, I couldn't sleep. It’s not that I was sleeping peacefully before but now I have to deal with this news too. I never thought in my wildest dream that I would be adopted. The hot flushes hit me again and I run into the shower. Turn the knob on the coldest temperature and I let the chilled water fall on my hot skin. For a second, I thought I noticed steam evaporating from my skin, until the water cooled me down. I wrapped the towel around my waist and got back into the room. As soon as I looked at the two hungry eyes at me, I screamed. “AHHHH!!!!!! WHAT THE f**k?” I shout at the top of my lungs. My heart stuck in my mouth for a second when I saw Fiarra sitting on my bed, glaring at me with lust in her eyes. “What are you glaring at?” I yelled at her. She smirks in a seductive way, “your towel! It bothers me, take it off!” “Dirty mind! Take it out of the gutter.” I fumed at her while looking red as a tomato in embarrassment. “Yes, i have a dirty mind and right now you are running through it.., naked!” she winks at me again. I started to feel hot again. “Hot flushes? It’s common in a werewolf because your blood is hot.” she explains. “You're still talking that s**t. How the hell did you find my home? Are you stalking me?” i eye her. “I don’t need to. I can smell you from miles away. You are my mate, mine!” I notice her eyes glowing into golden swirls. She is making a move towards me, almost crashing lips onto mine. “Okay!” i said while stepping aside. Fiarra falls down on her face. “s**t! I am sorry! I didn't mean to..” I apologize immediately and help her stand. “Honey? Are you okay? Did you fall?” Mom knocks on the door and my eyes widen. What if she finds Fiarra in my room? No!  “Hide!!” i hiss at her and she gets into the bathroom. “Nothing mom! I am okay!” i stand up immediately after locking the bathroom door. Thank god, I managed to handle it on time as Mom burst inside. “I heard you screaming! I got scared and then I heard you talking and then a loud thud.” she stammers. “Hey, Mom! It's nothing, I was watching a movie.” I lie. She scrunches her brows in confusion, “but we haven’t installed a T.V. in your room. You said you will get distracted.”  “Mom, we are living in the 21st century. I was watching a movie on my phone.” I lied again to her and I cursed myself internally. “Okay! If you are saying so. Goodnight.” she assures that everything is right. When she leaves, I exhale in relief. Fiarra comes out from the bathroom. “Your mom is not a werewolf!” she states. “What?” I ask in irritation. “She is a human, except you! And you were in a towel in front of her.” she points at my towel. “She knows i take numerous baths to cool myself down.” I avert my gaze and look for my pajamas. “Why are you here? You punched me earlier and now you're all good like nothing happened.” I sigh. “I am sorry, I am short tempered.” “What a great explanation?” i huff. “Onyx, have you ever thought why do you experience such hot flushes frequently?” I can sense something in her voice. “I visited many doctors but no one is able to explain it to me. Now, I am experiencing them many times a day.” “You are going to have your first shift!” she states with concern. “I am what???” this is enough and away from my limits. “Just leave! I had enough of your stupid ass facts. Leave right now and don’t dare to come near me.” “Onyx! You are behaving rudely!” she stutters. “Get the f**k out of my house, or i will not think twice that your a girl. OUT, NOW!” I scream on her face and she dwells tears in her eyes. She jumps out from the window and shifts into a wolf in mid air. I stare at her until she is out of sight. My heart aches to see her cry but i don’t know why?
