Choosen paths of predetermined journeys

Dean - Where is my scythe?! - Dad's voice echoed and we just stared at each other laughing from the top of our lungs. Kate in my arms and happy, I didn't need anything else to heal my aching soul and restless mind. - Shouldn't you give him that back? - she asked pointing at the scythe on the floor. I snapped my fingers and covered her eyes in the same time. - I have no idea what you are talking about! We haven't seen any scythe! - Kate pulled my hand away from her eyes and twitched her lips. - Who talked about a scythe? - I grinned and gave her a peck. - I'm starving! Should we head to the kitchen and grab some dinner? - I asked and she giggled. I pulled Kate after me but she halted midway. - What's wrong? - I asked and she blushed pointing at my not very decent dress choice. - Shouldn't you get dressed? - Kate asked but I saw the curiosity in her eyes about what could be under the towel. I released her hand and put my hands on my waist. - Seriously... There is still so much for you to learn. This lovely lady, is the new collection, of Barth Room 2024 Autumn collection! - I posed in the towel and Kate laughed. - What the actual hell are you doing? - I jumped in surprise as I heard my mother's voice from behind me. Kate laughed even harder and she even stumbled a bit. Once she got her breath back she said, wiping her tears off. - Dean just presented the newest part or Barth Rolm's Fall collection. - mom held her temple and snapped her fingers putting some decent clothing on me. - The Catwalk is over, dinner is ready. - She said and shaking her head, not even trying to cover her smile she headed downstairs. We followed her and when dad saw pur red faces he just nodded with a warm smile. - I see the storms passed. - He said while he put the freshly baked pizza on the table. Kate almost drooled and her stomach crumbled. I pulled the chair for her and she took a seat next to me. Dad and mom joined us and we had a completely normal dinner. Kate helped mom to clean the plates and dad called me over. - Why did you take the scythe? - I sighed. - I got mad. - He waited for a more detailed explanation with an expressionless face that drove me crazy. - You know dad if you ever need a new job, just go and be a detective. Your interrogation style is unbeatable. - He smirked a bit. - Thanks, so? - Nothing honestly, I just got mad because someone hurt Kate in the past. - Dad held my shoulders. - I know the feeling but we can't go around killing people. You know it too. They have their predestined journeys that only they have the right to modify. - I took a glance towards the kitchen. - Yet both of us broke that law. - Dad pinched my nose like mom usually does with his and said. - I just told you, only we can modify our journeys. We didn't broke any law, just made a decision to make our journey more full. - I smiled and dad patted my head. - Seriously, don't take the scythe out again. You have your mom's stare, that's enough to froze anyone's blood in their veins. - What are you talking about? - Mom asked from behind dad and he shivered. Dad leaned closer and asked whispering. -Is she looking at me like "that"? - I leaned to the right to see my mom in a better view and back to face my father. - Time for a new flower. - I said and dad turned around on his heels. By the time he faced mom, he had a huge bouquet of purple and black flowers in his hands. - Are you trying to bribe your way out of trouble? - Mom asked and dad picked a flower putting it in her hair. -You know me my love, I'm not that sly! - Mom shook her head and kissed dad. She smelled the flowers and put them in a vase. - They are so beautiful together. - Kate said as we watched my parents playfully teasing each other. I smiled and nodded. - Who said that death cannot be beautiful? - I glanced at Kate. - Should we give them some privacy? - she grabbed my hand and we ran outside. The drying leaves cracked under out feet and the cold breeze turned our cheeks red in a short time. - I can't wait for the snow. - Kate said after just walking im silence. - Do you like winter? - I asked and she held my hand. - I didn't like it until now , but I have a feeling that there'll be many things my perspective gonna change about. - I squeezed her hand and imagined our first Christmas together. - By the way, do you celebrate Halloween? - she asked suddenly. - Well, we used to when I was a child. Mom insisted and we traveled around the world to see the different cultures and their celebrations. Do you? - That sounds so interesting! I wish I could do the same! And I haven't celebrated in years. - I turned Kate to face me and held her by her waist. - Let's make this Halloween our first celebration together! - she nodded excitedly not knowing that I'll take her around the world once she heals from the wounds of her past. I wanted to make all her dreams come true. - What do you think, how's Esther doing? - she asked. - Honestly, I don't know. Probably trying to get better so you two could soon meet again. - Kate smiled and I took a mental note of how gorgeous she was when she smiled happily. - I hope she'll soon get better. - Me too. Let's head back it's getting really chilly. - she nodded and without releasing my hand we walked back to the house. From the inside lively music played. When we stepped into the living room I saw my parents hopping happily around the room listening to a sped up version of a Taylor Swift song. Based on the lyrics it was "Paper ring". Mom held Dad's hand and she sang in a high pitched voice. - "I like shiny things but I'd marry you with paper rings! Darling you are the one I want!" Kate grabbed my hand and pulled me in the happy jumping around and there in that room, surrounded by life and happiness I knew, our journey just started.
