Donna
Dean wasn't the only one affected by today's events. Even if he tried to hide it from me, and from our son, Grim also was exhausted. Luckily, I had no demons to fight that night. He gave me a gorgeous flower bouquet trying to ease the heavy air between us but I knew him better. I heard the kids leaving the house and after putting the flowers in a vase I turned to Grim. The man I dreamed of, the one who gave me countless adventures and sacrificed so many things for my sake. The one who gifted me with a miracle we weren't even sure is possible. I held his hand and smiled at him looking deeply into those delicious wine looking eyes.
- What's going on your mind? - he asked in his low voice that kept caressing my body and soul. I inhaled deeply his scent.
- I just recalled a few of the most beautiful memories I have about us.
- Really? Which ones? - he asked curiously and the room got brighter immediately. I pulled Grim to the sofa and we hopped onto it. I sat by his side and caressed his chest while I spoke.
- Well, first of all, when you took me to that tour. Do you remember? We watched a movie Blue Lagoon in the cinema, and I wanted to visit a place as magical as that one. - Grim's eyes shined a bit at the memories of the steamy nights we spent there.
- That island is indeed gorgeous! What else?
- I recalled our Christmas eighteen years ago. - he looked into my eyes and sighed with a relaxed expression.
- I had no idea if things would work out as we wished for. - I caressed his face and got up, standing in front of him. I kissed Grim.
- We got our own Miracle my love, he is such an amazing soul.
- Yeah, luckily he's your spitting image! - Grim said and I pinched his nose.
- Mine? Excuse me! Have you seen that boy? He is stubborn, cute, warm hearted and intelligent not to mention dangerously handsome! He took after you.
- Well, he got the best of both of us let's agree on that! - Grim chuckled. Even if our time together was calm now, the weight of today's incident still lingered heavily in the room. That's when I decided to change my tactics. I walked to the radio and turned it on. I connected my phone to it and searched for something.
Grim
- What are you up to? - I asked while Donna searched for something trough her phone.
- Sh! Wait a bit! - Donna said and with a triumphant smile she turned the volume up. The house got filled with a lively, nightcore cover. She skipped to the sofa and grabbed my arms pulling me up.
- Love, I'm tired. - I complained but she let her hair out and kicked her shoes off. Donna grabbed a flower from the vase and in a high pitch voice, imitating Theodore from Alvin and the chipmunks she sang.
- "Kiss me once 'cause you know I had a long night - Donna gave me a quick smooch.
- (Oh) Kiss me twice 'cause it's gonna be alright - She gave me another one and I felt the heaviness in my heart and soul lifting up.
- Three times 'cause I've waited my whole life... - those lines brought me out of my misery. She did waited for me for a lifetime and now she was here. She was real and mine forever. Only this shining soul, this unique creature was able to grab my darkness and squeeze it until it started to shine and take a form I'd never dreamed about. She pulled me up and jumped side to side, back and forth to the rhythm of the music and I couldn't help but join her. That's what the kids came back to. Kate didn't hesitate at all, she grabbed Dean and they joined us in the spontaneous party. I watched my son, shining brightly with the fragments of souls we put together to create him and this little girl. Broken, terrified but ready to eat the whole world. I was proud to them because they decided on the fourth option we didn't even mention. They held each other's hands and laughed into the face of their storms. That's what Donna taught me. She always saw the positive side of everything. She was ready to turn tables and to step up for the cause she believed in and whatever came to our way she just laughed. I'll never forget her words when we fought for Dean to be born, but after countless losses, he still didn't arrive.
She was sitting in the middle of a clearing, facing the sunset. I walked to her side and sat down next to her. I couldn't say a word, I blamed myself for not being able to give her what she dreamed about. A family. She was my everything, I couldn't imagine my existence without her or without her laughter. Now she was about to stay for an eternity with me. I'm the luckiest man, but what if I can't give her what she wants? The thought haunted me. That day, Donna held my hand and said with her usual warm smile and contagious optimism.
- Our son is going to have eyes like this sunset. - I grasped her hand and squeezed it, tears stinging my eyes.
- Maybe we should consider letting this go... I don't want to hurt you anymore. - I said what made me the most terrified. Donna just kissed my cheek and smiled.
- I'm patient, a special soul is still debating when to be born into our lives. I'm sure soon he'll be ready to meet us.
Just as usual my beloved Donna was right. That year, only a few months later, she became pregnant with Dean. We found it after Christmas and Donna's eyes shined the brightest that night when she rushed to me with the pregnancy test. And now, that miracle was growing in front of our eyes, turning into a spectacular young man.
Donna got tired from jumping and I held her in my arms. Both of our hearts beat fast and we giggled from excitement and happiness. The kids kept jumping around to the song put on repeat. Donna hopped on the sofa and pulled me after her. I rested my head on her shoulder and we watched our son dancing happily with the girl who's gonna change his life.
- Are you feeling a bit happier? - Donna asked and I smiled as I held her hand that caressed my head. I kissed the top of it and looked into the golden eyes she gave to our son.
- As long as I have my own sun in my life, there's nothing that can stop me from being happy. - she blushed and I caressed a piece of her hair out of her face.
- I love you. - I said and she leaned closer putting our foreheads together.
- I love you too! - Dean cleared his throat.
- I think we are tired we'll go to sleep now! - he said and grabbed Kate and throw her over his shoulder. She squeaked, clearly not being prepared for the sudden action.
- Night kiddos! - Donna chuckled as Dean technically kidnapped Kate and carried her to the first floor.
- Goodnight! - she giggled swinging on Dean's shoulder and I looked at Donna.
- Shouldn't we have to make sure they are not doing anything stupid? - she sighed and her hands wandered on my chest, unbuttoning my shirt.
- Youth, foolishness. When should they make mistakes and do stupid things if not now? Also, I have something better in mind that doesn't include disciplining our son and his girlfriend. - Donna bit her lips and her sparkling eyes captivated me.
- You are a miracle. - I said before kissing her passionately and getting burned by the sun that only shone for me.
