SLOAN I thought I had won. I refused to try on a single thing after Vera picked out her dress. She threw a fit, blaming me for being mean or something, but I held my ground. I thought I had won. Until Vera was pounding on my door when I was minutes from getting into bed to sleep, she shoved a garment bag into my hands and stormed away without a word.
