MISSY We made it back to the packhouse without Sadie. Lea went home with Azeron, Sloan disappeared immediately, and Vera called her driver. Soon enough, I was headed to my room to look for Maddox. He sent me a message that he was going out to dinner, but I hadn’t heard from him since. The packhouse was weirdly quiet, and I wondered if Sadie had made it back. I trusted her to call me if she needed help, but she was also acting odd when I called her earlier. When I got to our room, Maddox was sitting on the end of our bed, drinking water. “Hey,” I smiled, happy to be home and with him. “How was dress shopping?” he asked, clearing his throat. “Good, I guess,” I answered, Coming over to straddle his lap. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he held me by the waist. “How was dinner?”
