SLOAN After two large meals and battling my urges with Valen, I felt sick and tired. My stomach was in actual pain after eating so much. I was going to have to take it easy. After a year of having to scavenge for my meals, sometimes steal, and always ration what I had, I hadn’t consistently had breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a while. When I got to my room, the second bag of clothes was sitting on my bed. I threw them into the closet, unsure what else to do with them. I didn’t want his handouts. Then I took a shower, making sure no trace of his scent was left on me. I couldn’t relax with him suffocating me. My skin itched, but there was nothing on me. It was like an invisible pest was crawling over my skin. It had to be my body’s reaction to finding my mate, but I wasn’t going to let
