I straighten my clothing and march to the door, intent to set Alaric straight about just how far I'm willing to let him push me. When I swing open the door, the guard has a surprised look on his face.
“Is everything ok, ma'am?" he asks me. I must have quite the expression on my face because he backs up a little when I step over the threshold.
