Chapter 13 Halloween night. The party at my Tudor turned out to be a smash right from the start. Approximately forty costumed guests arrived. Eight waiters dressed as Greek gods abounded in muscles served plenty of alcohol and food. Guests floated from one room to the next, chatting, laughing, and having fun. Games were played like Halloween-themed charades. And a few guests, drunk and sloppy, had sneaked outside and were playing hide and seek. I found Toby in the kitchen, preparing a carafe of pumpkin-spiced rum coffee. He sported an angel costume, all white from head to toe. No shirt.
