Chapter Eight: Mate

1160 Words
J e a n I was walking in the hallway to my next class. I came from the library during my vacant hours and decided to go to my next class early. I still have fifteen minutes before class starts so I walked slowly and observed the students around. I was about to turn into a corner when someone also turned from the opposite side making my breathing stopped as my feet froze on the ground and the man also stopped before we collided each other. I could feel the breeze fanning me from his abrupt stopping. Looks like he was really in a hurry and I was glad he stopped in time. I found myself looking to a broad chest and I had to raise my head up to look who it was but I already had a hunch who. It was Dos and I didn't know but he popped inside my head the moment I saw that broad chest. Aside from his intimidating height and build, Dos also has this scent that he gives off. I don't know if it was his perfume or his body scent but he smells great and masculine. "I'm sorry." I said and turned to the side and walk past Dos who remained standing like a statue. I just proceed to my class and the rest of the day was just a normal school day. × × × D o s I have been smelling my mate the moment I entered the campus. I couldn't focus with my lessons and I was in the hallway with Curtis when the smell got stronger. It seems like my mate was walking towards us and Remus was going crazy that he was trying to take over me. The scent was so strong that it was the only scent I could smell and nothing else. "I need to go somewhere." I said to Curtis as I massaged my forehead. "Uh, okay. I won't wait for you anymore." I just nodded and walked to where the smell was strong. My pace getting faster while the smell was getting stronger, I almost run as I turned into a corner and almost hit someone making me use all of my strength to stop myself and the intoxicating smell was so strong it was making me dizzy. My heart was pounding so hard and Remus was screaming "mate!" repeatedly like an emergency alarm which was adding to my dizziness. Aside from dizziness, I felt so confused seeing who my mate was. Why him? "I'm sorry." June said and walk past me. What the bloody hell!? Don't let him go! Remus screamed. I crunched my forehead and leaned my hand on the wall for support. I never felt that dizzy and I could feel my back sweating cold as I restrained myself from running to our mate and take him and Remus was and addition to the burden. I clipped my nose as I leaned my back on the wall not minding the curious looks the other students giving me as they pass by. My brain was still processing why it was him. Why did the goddess made him as my mate? Hey! Nickolas! Go after him. Shut up. I said and Remus loudly growled at me. "Are you okay?" I turned my head when someone asked. I didn't recognize the woman but she would definitely be Curtis' type. I just nodded and breathed out as I stood straight and walked to my next class. I almost didn't make it alive until my last class and I haven't told Curtis yet but he was worried why I was acting strange and guessed the reason immediately. There was no other reason for us to act strange like this. It would only he because of our mate and Curtis was pestering me who was it as we walked out of the building when he suddenly stopped abruptly from walking making me frown. I was in a hurry because the smell was too much for my consciousness to hold and Remus would take over if I don't go far away from here. "Curtis!" I called. "Dos! He's here! Let's use the other gate." The next gate was far from our dorm and I was losing control. I wouldn't make it. "Just meet with him." "I can't. Just hold Remus down, we can still make it." "It's like I am going to mother f*****g urinate. I can't hold it any longer. So, go use the other gate." I said and continued walking. "Okay. Okay. Wait for me!" Curtis only scratched his head and followed me. I could see Duane standing outside the university gate. "Hey, I'm in a rush. You can take this one with you." I said and motioned to Curtis who made a disgusted face. "No. No. I'm in a rush also. He needs me." "I don't." I said and run my way to the dorm, climbing the stairs three steps at a time. × × × C u r t i s Dos was acting not in his usual same self and I knew the reason why. There was no other reason why us, werewolves, would act strange except for our mate and I was dying to know who it was but Dos just shrugged me off and I didn't dig any further because Dos was feeling uneasy and uncomfortable. It was dismissal and we were walking back to our dorm when I suddenly smelled my mate and Romulus suddenly howled for I don't know if it was from excitement or anger. Romulus has been betraying me when it comes to our mate. He easily gives in as if he didn't dislike the man before. I still felt annoyed with Duane. I saw Duane waiting outside the gate making me stop on my tracks and called Dos to use the other gate instead but he was in hurry to get away from his mate also. I was meant to just pass Duane like I didn't know or saw him but Dos gave me to him. "Hey, I'm in a rush. You can take this one with you." Dos said. "No. No. I'm in a rush also. He needs me." I said and tried to walk with Dos. "I don't." Dos said and I jumped when Duane held my hand. The suddenly contact made my heart jumped. I felt so confused with my feelings and emotions, they were all contradicting each other. "Curtis." Duane said and let go of my hand. I just noticed that all the students walking out of the gate never fails to check Duane making me frown at them and I had this stupid urge to kick Duane out of that place. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I came to see you." Duane said and I fought my eyes from rolling with my fast heartbeat. "Stupid." ××××××××××××
