I understood that Jax had tried to scare Megan and Nathan off, hoping to extend our conversation and give us a little more time together, but he might have taken it a little too far. However, he didn’t quite achieve his desired outcome because, after they left, I became quieter. We sat in the living room, waiting for their return, but as time passed, it became evident that they weren’t coming back.
“I think they’re making up,” Jax remarked.
“You think?” I replied, as if it wasn’t obvious.
With no more shouting or loud voices audible, it was likely that Megan and Nathan had already reconciled. However, it also meant that we probably wouldn’t be seeing them for the rest of the evening.
