Lord Maximus's POV Without waiting for a response, she knelt before me and unzipped my pants. She took out my d**k from my underwear and started kissing it, but I felt irritated and pushed her away slightly. "I'm not in the mood," I groaned and stood up. "But..." "There are no buts, just leave," I demanded, and saw hurt in her eyes as she lowered her head and left. With a frustrated groan, I walked aimlessly around the room until Timothy came in and informed me that the council of elders was waiting for me in the meeting hall. I changed into something more fitting for a meeting and stepped outside my chamber. I noticed the terrified and scared look on the faces of the guards and maids, and none dared to look my way. While making my way to the meeting hall, I noticed the palace was quiet, and only the sound of my heavy footsteps could be heard. After a few walk, I walked into the hall and met the twelve elders of the twelve clans under me, all of whom lowered their heads in respect. "You may all take your seats," I said as I took my seat before them. They obeyed my words and took their seats, and the hall remained silent, but I knew they had a lot to say. "Speak up," I demanded, and Chieftain Isaac was the first to stand up, which didn't surprise me. "My lord, accept my condolences," he spoke, and I nodded, gesturing for him to continue. "We, the council of chiefs, would like to know what your first step is after the burial of our queen." He paused, and I remained silent. "Your throne is at risk, and not just that, but the future of the twelve clans is also at risk, my lord. You have to have an heir, not just an heir, but heirs that will succeed after you," he said, his words filled with worries and concern. "We, the chiefs, have a suggestion to make, and we do hope you would agree to it," he pleaded, while I remained quiet. "We suggest that you take another wife and make her queen. Perhaps she would be able to give you children," he added, but I knew taking another wife wouldn't solve a thing. The Moon Goddess was angry with me and wouldn't let me have an heir. "Let's talk about this after my mourning session is over," I said, standing up. "My lord..." They tried to speak, but I didn't pay attention. Instead, I walked out of the hall and made my way back to my chambers. As I made my way to my room, I noticed a familiar maid kneeling under the scorching sun. I recognized her as the maid who gave me a massage a few hours ago. Her head was lowered to the ground, and her posture signaled that she was in deep trouble. I wanted to ignore her and retire to my room, but something drew me to her, and I couldn't ignore her. With a frustrated sigh, I walked over to her to see what was wrong. As I drew closer, I noticed the Head Maiden, Margaret, standing beside her, a stern look etched on her face. "Greetings," Margaret, the Head Maiden, greeted with her head lowered. "What is her offense?" I asked while staring at the maid whose head was still lowered. The Head Maiden informed me that she had broken Lady Harper's favorite dish and had been punished. I approached the trembling maid who was sweating profusely. I couldn't tell if her body was shaking because of the pain she was feeling or if she was scared of my presence. "Head up," I ordered, and she slowly obeyed. As her eyes met mine, I was struck by a sudden memory that flashed through my mind. It was unclear but I managed to pick something out of it. I noticed the fear in her eyes and quickly realized that my commanding presence was only making it worse. "Tell Lady Harper that I will deal with her in my own way," I told Margaret, before turning my attention back to the maid. "On your feet, and follow me," I commanded, and began to walk away. As we entered my chambers, I couldn't explain the memory that flashed through my head, but I felt like I was about to pick something out of it. I turned to face the maid and held her gaze, which had a terrified look. "Why did you lie to me?" I asked, my anger rising. "My king," she stammered in fear, lowering her head to the floor. "Look up," I demanded, and she slowly obeyed. "Why did you lie about me undressing myself when it was clearly you?" I asked through gritted teeth.
