Meeting the Alpha

Omega Allison’s POV “You there, Omega! Let’s go!” The disgust in the man’s voice was visible when I looked up, my hands still digging the frozen ground. Being late in the season, here we were, trying to scratch up whatever was left after the big harvest. The orchard was emptied when the omega females scattered off the second they realized that it wasn’t one of them who was called out. This made me grit my teeth more, knowing whatever was happening would hurt. There were two, both bigger and mean, when one made a direct hit against my rib, making me fall down, trying not to make a sound, knowing that it would only make it far worse than just one kick to my body. “Stop eating all the damn time and actually do some work around here since otherwise, we don’t have any use for you!” the other man made a smirk when his battle partner spat at my face, making the hood I was wearing take most of the saliva, even if some of it was on my chin. “Too bad that you are a f*****g disgusting piece of trash. I would have loved to make that face of yours beg me to f**k you harder!” the man was leaning closer, taking a solid hold of my face like he was considering it, whatever filth that was going on inside those cunning eyes staring at my trembling lips, still trying to hold my breath, feeling the leather-covered fingers dig deeper inside my skin, knowing he was hurting me. “Don’t waste your time on her. We are already late, and she is the last one…. Still can’t believe they asked for an Omega…. What a waste…” the second man made a huff when I was let go, my face still hurt from the firm grip that had been around my jaw, holding me hostage when the man that had kicked me made a growl for me to get on my feet even if he just made sure I couldn’t move that fast! “Move, you b***h!” I made a fast move toward the truck waiting in the distance, the men walking behind me casually like they didn’t just see me almost fall over from the same kick that was making every breath harder to take. Climbing up the truck that had girls all younger than me when I sat down, I pulled my hood up, hiding whatever the other girls all stared at me with contempt, no compassion or care, just pure hate when I was the only Omega sitting alongside regular pack members. They wanted nothing to do with me or my kind. The truck jerked, and I fell over, hissing at the pain in my left side when the girl next to me gasped when I almost touched her. She was wearing a lovely dress, they all were. Their family and mothers ensured they looked prettiest when I was still sitting in my burlap shirt and pants. My work outfit was the only thing that could cover up my hair; it was red. For some reason, people around here hated it. I wasn’t even the only one with it. More than the hated that I was an orphaned Omega with no blood ties to this pack, I was nobody. “Think you stand a chance, Omega. You really believe an Alpha would ever look at someone like you?” the mocking voice came from a girl further away when I didn’t answer, still holding my hand over the spot that hurt. The guard wasn’t holding back when he kicked me, and he never did. “She knows she doesn’t just want to get up there, eat all the food, and steal. Everyone knows that Omegas are thieves...” Another girl answered when I was biting the inside of my cheek, hard hearing the accusations being thrown in my face. I was not a thief! No matter what they believed, I had never taken anything! Not since I was around four years old and got a brutal beating from a guard for taking an apple off the table, being hungry, and threatening to have my hand cut right off! My stomach made a growl like the painful memory had made me remember that I was hungry, and the girls made a frown, not believing for a second that I hadn’t been starved for days. None of them did. They were around the orchard or the Omega quarters. No, they lived comfortably further up the hills, closer to the top of the Alpha mansion, where the truck was heading. “I hope the Alpha shows her what we do to Omegas that just want to take our food and not being grateful for even being in our pack should be tossed out to be eaten alive by rogues since they are just as dirty!” I made a hidden smile hearing that under the hood. I bet she hadn’t even shifted, and now she knew everything about Omegas, that we were rogues…. I had seen rogues since my home was at the end of the borders. They were nothing like the tales these girls had heard. They were barely surviving, dying of hunger; if I had been braver, I would have taken off if I didn’t know that if the guards caught me, I would suffer before they killed me. The girls kept talking, upset that they had to share the truck with me until we stopped. I was the first one down, making another grunt of pain when no guard helped me down, making the thud feel all the way into my ribs when the rest of the girls were either lifted down or at least given a hand by the serious men that were surrounding us in different shape and sizes, all bigger and meaner. The mansion was so big that my eyes couldn’t resist looking up from my bare feet, making the floor have a trail of dirt after my small prints since I was the smallest one of the girls walking inside, not that anyone cared about that when we suddenly stopped, making me almost lose my footing again when I looked up seeing the girl that I had made a bump into. She was panicking like me touching her was the worst thing that could ever have happened to her. “Get away from me, you dirty b***h!” she pushed me back hard, making me stumble and reaching out for her arm and taking her down along with me when she started to scream, striking me and baring her teeth like she even had felt her beast, she hadn’t. I instantly swirled when she looked down at me, seeing that I could shift. She hadn’t counted on me being older. I was small and looked younger when a guard came over, taking her back up while she was panting and spitting like I was the one that had attacked her and not the other way around!? “She did this. Look at my dress, Omega. How the hell are you going to pay for this!?” she was scoffing when the guard came closer, raising his hand when a man came out. He looked serious and had tattoos all over his body, making the girl blush to see him. They thought he was the Alpha, but I knew better. Still on the ground, protecting my ribs, when the guard stopped, having his head down and taking a step back to the offended girls' anger. She wanted me dead for this, and I hadn’t even done anything! “What the hell is going on here!?” A giant man came into the room and barked in his rough voice. He was tall and wide, with rough hands and scars over his face. He looked good. Still, his blue eyes were cunning as he stared at the nervous girls who looked much less cocky out over the bossy man that walked around us. He looked annoyed like he had just woken up or somebody had bothered him just for existing when he walked over to the guard. He glared, making the girl move closer to his uncaring face like she didn’t live in his world. He was, without a doubt, the Alpha's second in command, Beta. Black hair covered most of his face, and his clothes were ripped and faded. He looked like me but didn't have that hunger in his blue eyes and the hunched-over back. This Beta was proud. “She ruined my dress, Alpha; just look at it!” The girl was getting even closer when I held my breath, and the man made a growl; it was loud and put the whole room on edge. Some of the girls started to cry, and they weren’t used to getting beaten and yelled at, unlike me. “So, what!? I don’t care about some stupid dress! Just stop making f*****g ruckus when I’m hungover!” his beast coming up, talking annoyed and more profound when the girl backed down, still holding her ripped dress like a small child that was getting scolded over something she didn’t understand, so stupid. “Beta, shouldn’t we punish the Omega girl?!” the guard clenched his fist, stopping the Beta from getting back inside whatever room he came from. He wanted to punch me; his whole being was itching for his fist to connect with my face, and everyone in this room knew that. I took a deep breath, lowering my head, still holding onto my hurting side. Oh, this would hurt so much. Betas were so much more robust, and he could kill me way easier than any guard could! The Beta looked at the guard and the girl, almost hiding behind him. Lovers? I didn’t care; she would abandon him when she met her mate, or maybe she was his mate. Her parents had sent her over anyway to get her to be the new Alpha chosen mate; it wasn’t the first time that happened; it was an honor being chosen. Hence, all the dresses were ripped in the first place. “Why, it’s just a dress?” he sounded bored and turned around, lifting his head like he could feel it before anyone else. This vital force was clashing out over the rooms, like a storm brewing in the distance, making every part of my body goosebumps from the essential force coming closer. I looked up just like everyone else. The man who came in was tall, broad, and well-built. He had thick, short, sand-blonde hair that spilled all over his head in a neat haircut. Complex features made his attractive face look even more dangerous. Hard green eyes staring furiously at his Beta now, telling him off. I was sure of it as the Beta before I backed away. I looked confused at the man who didn’t even bother to look at us girls, not even one glance, as we stared stupidly at him, his attractive body or face but his aura, making us obey whether we wanted to or not, the Alpha. “Get rid of them.” He glared at the Beta that nodded, and before we knew it, the guards sent us to the same place we had come from. I looked gratefully at the exit, knowing that if I got lucky, I could outrun the girl and her guard boyfriend, who would try to make me get beat up when we were outside the doors. “Not her.” The Alpha's words echoed behind me as I watched in horror as the rest of the equally shocked girls were carried away. The girl whose dress I had ripped was staring daggers, and she was going to get me back, and I couldn’t even fight back! I was left with the Beta that held me back firmly, suddenly letting me go when the doors closed. Everything became dead quiet inside the beautiful room we were standing in. “Are you sure?” The Beta looked at me with a stern face, but I swear that I saw a ghost of a grin that vanished before he turned and faced the Alpha, who looked like he didn’t want to talk. None of them did, and I knew that better than anyone, still holding onto my ribs where I had been kicked. “Are you questioning me, Beta?!” The Beta moved quickly backward, and I bowed my head at the young Alpha's call. They were not a day over twenty-five, and I was sure they would be middle-aged, older than the last Alpha! “What’s your name?” the new Alpha stared at me like he wanted to really know. That was ridiculous. He didn’t need to know my name to beat me up; it was all the same; I was just an Omega, and I was nothing compared to the big man who was coming closer, making my whole body start to tremble at the sound of his steps coming closer, was he going to kill me!? “Omega.” I didn’t look at him when his anger came from nowhere, and it almost made me cry. I had no idea why!? This wasn’t the first time someone screamed in my face, and I was used to being yelled at all day long if I didn’t work fast enough, even if I did just that! “Not your status! Your name!” He shouted the word as I swallowed the tears that started to come up, I never cried about anything, but now I was standing here and was starting to sob like a teenager of the man who still looked annoyed at me. “Allison…” I whispered my name with my eyes closed now that the tears started rolling down my cheeks. I did not care; I just wanted away from his cold eyes that stared at me furiously as if I was the reason why he was so pissed. “Get out!” he said to the Beta, who nodded quickly and went when the air became so thick with fear and something else that I could barely breathe where we stood in front of each other. He did not look like other alphas but a typical alpha. Big and broad, muscular and more significant than the other men I had seen, the first and last defense of the pack, but he was not dressed as one. I was used to seeing them in their luxurious suits and fancy cars. Still, whoever this Alpha was, standing there, feel the brutal aura of Alpha that followed him wherever you went. “Allison….” His voice was weaker now as he repeated my name, like a whisper when I was terrified when his hand came up to my cheek. I jerked as he gently pulled away my tears with his thumb; it burned where he had touched me. My sobbing had begun to calm down a little over a tall man standing in front of me and seemed so calm now that nothing in the whole world could ever get him angry. “You may look me in the eye, Allison.” He said it softly as I shook my head, still terrified even though they had started to calm down. I refused. “Look me in the eye!” He was commanding now when I forced myself to meet his gaze; it was against everything I knew. My whole body screamed as if it was the highest form of taboo to look the Alpha in the eyes. Still, I obeyed anyway. My entire stomach was a knot until I suddenly met the most beautiful green eyes I had ever seen in my whole life. Reaching into my soul, touching the most profound part that nobody saw, made me want to live again as if everything I had known all my life was gone, and there was only him. I staggered in shock as he grabbed me softly, something I wasn't used to, and I was still gasping for air as we stared at each other without being able to tear our eyes off each other. “Oh…” I couldn’t speak, still trying to catch my breath; it was too hard when he smiled warmly at me like he was showing a side that wasn’t meant for anyone else but me; it was beautiful. “Baby, you have no idea how long I’ve searched for you.” He said the words lovingly, making me feel even weirder. That wasn’t how people used to speak to me. No, it was harsh and mean, telling me that I was better off dead or that nobody would miss me, nobody. “You have?” My voice was shaky, and I probably looked like a deer in headlight when he nodded thoughtfully. Before I had time to protest, he pulled me into his arms, and I blinked in surprise as I stood with my head against his chest and had my arms and his muscular waist. I inhaled his scent; it was raw and powerful. It drew me to him like I never wanted to do anything other than stand here and smell him, no matter how weird it sounded when he seemed to do the same, and I let him go suddenly. I probably smelled sweat and soil after working in the garden all day, and he looked at me hurt when I had backed up like he thought it was because of him and not my own shame. “What is it, baby?” His voice was genuine, hurt, and tender as I shook my head. I could not be, no, not a chance, and I was an Omega! “I'm a nobody.” I raised my head and looked overwhelmed into the beautiful green eyes like bright emeralds that watched me lovingly as he took my hand. I let him do it even though I knew I should say no, say he should have chosen the beta girl in here with me. “You are not nobody.” He said reassuringly and pulled me into his arms again, but I struggled this time. No, he could not be with me; for his sake, he had to take someone other than me. “I'm sorry, Alpha, but I can’t!” I said the words heavily, and they broke my heart when he looked at me, shocked, with his beautiful eyes and mouth slightly open, as if he didn’t understand what I had just said. I did this for him, even if he did not understand it. His face changed and became dark like I had no choice, making me scared at how angry he was in seconds, just like when I had stood with the girls and waited on him. “Allison, baby… You have no choice.” When I blinked, his voice was dark and almost threatening; what was he doing?! I could say no! not even he could stop me! It was my only right left to reject my Alpha mate! I yanked my hand back from which he had held me and looked down, provoked; I would save him from being a public laughingstock, and he got angry at me!? I wanted to cry again when I blinked a couple of times and drew in the air hard into my deflated lungs as I looked into his angry eyes again. “I, Omega Allison White, reject you, Alpha….” I realized I did not even know his name as we stared hard at each other’s eyes. I hesitated when he suddenly looked amused at me, as I could not complete my rejection of him without it. “what's your name?!” I said it, stressed as his eyes twinkled. I became suspicious of the crooked smile that made him look just as old as he was, in his twenties, and teasing as if he suddenly found it all entertaining. “I’ll tell you… if you let me kiss you….” I gasped from the shock he gave me with the provocative words… he wanted what?! I probably looked panicking because his smile suddenly disappeared as he put his hands on my shoulders. My breaths had gotten too fast, going into hyperventilating, and I would probably faint soon if I did not stop. “Allison. Calm down.” He breathed in and out, making me follow his rhythm several times, and I suddenly felt better. I didn't know if it was his hands burning on my skin or if it was that I wasn't about to pass out anymore. Batting my eyes stupidly back at his loving face, which was so handsome! I just wanted to kiss him. That was all I wanted! “I can’t…” blushing now, I did not understand why either. No man had ever made me do it, not even when they called me things I was too proud to repeat. He looked disappointed at me, hurt as he withdrew with his hands as the air had left him. I looked overwhelmed at how he seemed broken because I did not want to be with him. “Daniel… Daniel Turner….” I made a gulp, knowing what he had given me, a way to reject him. “Do it.” He said the words harshly, and to my surprise, I found myself studying him; he did not look at me. He looked utterly devastated that he never wanted to live again after I was done when I sobbed. He did not understand that I did it for him?! I ached for him; every part of me wanted to be with him, but I knew better than to imagine that I would be worthy of being by his side. “I, Omega Allison White, reject you, Alpha… Daniel…” I stopped when it burned in me like my whole body was boiling from trying to say his last name, even if it was killing me. I blinked in shock as he pushed me up against the wall and stared at me; pressing his weight against me made my body react to him as I gasped at the unexpected attack. His closeness made me want to do everything I promised myself a second ago that I would not let myself do! “Please let me go!” I whispered when his eyes were upset, accusing when we were so close that we felt each other's agitated breaths. My body had started to get hot in the wrong places of his closeness when he released me as fast as he had pushed me up against the wall. I stumbled, disappointed, and eased to feel his muscular body pressed against mine. “Get out.” he only said that when I looked at him in surprise. Did he want me to go?! “Didn’t you f*****g hear me?! Get out of here!” he screamed mercilessly as I ran without looking back, crying rivers when I barely knew where to go; I finally stumbled out through one of the back gates, stumbling the last part. Snorting and crying out in the woods, and sank, devastated. I didn’t understand what had happened… I was the Alpha's mate… paired from the goddess, and I was nothing but an embarrassment for him... I sank down more and lay down on the soft moss below me. He had every right to hate me.
