Chapter 7 HER IDENTITY

896 Words
Last night, Kayne had decided to release Cerise from the underground room and then he could keep her under his watch properly. At first it was a really hard choice for him to take, but his inner wolf won their argument in the end. And he was glad that he had taken this decision especially when he saw other's lusting glare on her. 'She's mine!' The voice always echoed in his mind, but surprisingly he didn't hate it. The only problem he had to solve now was to confirm her identity. Early at the sunrise, he ordered two of his guards to escort her to his bedroom where she can stay and freshen up. He already had one of his omega’s to buy clothes and other girly necessities from town for her. Now everything is prepared in his bedroom already. He didn’t want her staying in any of his guestrooms, one reason is that she might find a way to escape-she is quite smart and powerful, isn't she; and the other reason is that it would be easier for him to figure out her secrets when he could keep a close eye on her. And there was one more thing he might have realized but didn't want admit so quickly: staying in the same room so that she can be close by his side. A knock came from outside of his office, he called out for the person to enter without looking up from the document he was reading. The door opened and Elijah walked in with a glum look on his face and a small envelope in his hand. He walked straight up to Kayne’s desk and briefly bowed his head before handing the envelope to him. “Kayne, you might wanna read this.” Kayne’s eyes snapped to the letter in Elijah’s outstretched hand and he put his documents away before leaning back in his seat. He took the letter from his hand and stared at it for about a minute, his mouth set in a hard line. “Does this letter have everything that we need to know about her? Including her real name?” He asked Elijah with a hard tone. “Yes. You might be surprised about some of the things written in there but not as surprising as this. Turn the envelope around.” Kayne frowned and did what he said. He turned the white envelope around in his hand and his eyes widened in surprise when he saw the logo printed on the back. His eyes quickly snapped up to Elijah’s face and he sat up straight in his chair while frowning. “The South Pack? What do they have to do with this? I thought they no longer existed?” Elijah nodded and breathed out a deep sigh. “After reading that letter, you’ll find out the reason why.” Kayne immediately took out the letter and started to read it. A minute had passed, he finally put the letter away, stood up from his chair and walked towards the drink cabinet where he poured himself a glass of whiskey. And then walked over to the big floor-to-ceiling window and looked outside while sipping his drink. The contents of the letter was still too much for him to take in-it’s still shocking but confusing. He still could not seem to wrap his mind around the fact--that the woman who had saved him and been brought to his home, had once gained that position with a female identity. She was an alpha like him. “Does anybody else know about this?” He asked Elijah without looking at him. “As far as I’m known, we’re the only ones here who knows about her real identity. But I think the Black Moon pack knows her too. They’re more involved in this than we think and there’s so much more that still doesn’t add up.” Kayne downed the rest of his drink and slowly turned around to face him. “I’ll find out the rest. Your job is to make sure that this whole information stays between us and does not reach the wrong people.” Elijah nodded his head in understanding before he turned around and left the room. Standing for a while, Kayne thought he needed to confirm with her face to face. He picked up the letter from the table, placed it back inside the envelope carefully and left his office. On the way towards his bedroom, he recalled all of her information in the letter again while his wolf was cheering about seeing her soon. "Isn't that good? She is as strong as us." "It's not that simple, especially when she was once an Alpha." "Well, the only thing I care about is that she is our mate. Remember, you can't let her leave." "Shut up, I'll handle it." Kayne arrived at the door, and there was a guard posted outside. Kayne nodded for the guard to leave. He slowly opened the door and walked in. He gently closed the door behind him and eyed the new shopping bags lying on top of his bed and he also saw the girly cosmetics on top of the vanity. But where was she? As he walked in further, the only thing he heard was the shower running. She was in shower! His inner wolf started being excited.
