Kiara's Point of View I have been here for two days already, and I don't know how Ava does it. Ava wakes up at four-thirty in the morning and makes breakfast. Then after she and Tyler have breakfast, she cleans the kitchen and starts her day. I am not used to waking up so early. I have been trying to get up when Ava does, but that hasn't happened yet. I am lucky if I am up by seven, and that is still early for me. As I roll out of bed, I can hear the sound of chickens clucking. I smile because I love waking up to this sound instead of cars honking. I walk into the bathroom attached to the bedroom and do my business, then showered. Once I was done, I headed downstairs and looked around for Ava. I found her asleep on the sofa, and I smiled. I went to the kitchen and poured myself a cup of coffee. As I was looking for something to eat, I heard the door behind me open and turned my head to see who it was. Caleb walked in the door, and I put my left pointer finger over my mouth and went shhh, and he smiled at me. "Good morning. Why are we being quiet?" He asked as he whispered. "Because Ava is asleep on the sofa," I whispered. "Ah. What are you doing?" He asked. "Looking for breakfast," I said as I looked back at the fridge and began to look around. "How about we go to the diner. I could use a good meal," He said as he got closer. I closed the fridge door and turned around. Caleb was nearly in my bubble of space, and my heart began to speed up. He was a fine-looking man. "That sounds good. Let me grab my purse and stuff." "My treat. Let's go. I'll let Tyler know we left in case Ava starts looking for you." "Sounds good. I just need to put my shoes on." I walked around Caleb and towards the back door and put my orange flip-flops on. It seemed like everyone used the back door and left it unlocked all the time. I loved that Sheryl and Ava trusted everyone so much that they felt safe enough to leave things unlocked. Where I live, if you leave things unlocked, your begging for someone to rob you. "I'm ready," I said as I opened the back door. We both walked out of the house and to his truck. Once we were buckled in, Caleb started the truck, and we began to drive towards the main road. "So, how have you been?" He asked as he quickly looked at her. "Good. I don't know how you guys wake up so darn early." Caleb started laughing, and I felt embarrassed saying that. "That's country living for you, sweetheart." "So, what have you been up to the last couple of days?" I asked. "Just working on the ranch." We talked on the way, and when we got to the restaurant, we took a seat, and I began to look at the menu. "What do you recommend?" I asked as I moved the menu slightly down and looked at Caleb. "You can never go wrong with the mystic omelet." "Thanks for the recommendation." I looked back at the menu, looked at the omelet section, and saw the omelet he recommended. The omelet came with three types of meat, a bunch of vegetables, a side of hash browns, and toast. "I think I'll try it," I said as I put the menu down. Caleb raised his hand slightly in the air, and I looked at him weirdly. "I was letting Jax's know we were ready. She doesn't like to bug people much." Before I could say anything, the woman named Jax came over. She was about five feet tall and had long dark hair in a braid. "What can I get you two?" "Ladies first," Caleb said as he looked at me. I smiled and said, "I'll have your Mystic omelet with extra mushrooms and white toast." "What kind of cheese?" "What do you have?" I asked. "American, swiss, cheddar, muenster.." And before she could finish, I said, "Muenster, please. Oh, and a coke to drink." "Sure thing," Jax's said and then looked at Caleb. "The usual?" "Yup." Jax walked away, and I looked at Caleb. "So, what is your usual?" "Coffee and a mystic omelet with extra mushrooms and onions with muenster cheese and rye toast." I laughed and said, "Well, great minds think alike." I couldn't believe we ordered similar things. Caleb and I talked and then ate our food when it came. I couldn't finish it, so Caleb ate the rest of my food, including all of his. I couldn't believe he ate all that food. As we got into the truck, I had a big smile on my face. I really enjoyed myself. As I buckled up, Caleb said, "I need to stop at the feed store and pick up the order we have." "Sounds good." We drove in silence to the feed store as I looked out the window and enjoyed looking at the town. The last time I was here, it seemed like everything was rushed because of the wedding. "Penny, for your thought?" Caleb said. "I was thinking about how cute the town is. I didn't get to really take it in last time." "It's just a town, sweetheart," Caleb said, dragging out the sweetheart. I looked at Caleb and said, "Not all towns are kept up like this one. The pride the owners take in their shops' shows. The building are kept up, and the décor is so cute." "I guess. I never paid too much attention." "You live here, so you wouldn't notice, but next time you leave, look at how some places are kept up." "Will do." It didn't take us long until we got to the feed store. I decided to go in with Caleb. As we walked in, the man behind the counter began checking me out. I ignored his stares and walked behind Caleb. "Hey Steve," Caleb said as he walked up. "Hey," The man named Steve kept looking at me. I grabbed Caleb's hand because the man was making me uncomfortable. Caleb looked at me, and as I stared at him, it was like he knew what was going on. "I'm here to get my order. I'll drive around back to get it." "Sounds good." As we walked away, Caleb grabbed me by the waist and pulled me closer. We didn't speak until we got to the truck. As we got in, I said, "Thank you." "I never took Steve as the type to creep people out. I'm sorry." "Not your fault." Caleb drove around to the back of the building. A man was there waiting by a loading dock. "Hey Frank," Caleb said as he rolled down my window. He parked the truck and got out. "Just loading up the truck. It won't take long." "Sounds good." I sat there watching the guys loading the truck up with bags of stuff. Caleb had never rolled the window back up, and I could hear them talking about this new organic feed that should be coming in next month. The door next to the dock opened up, and the man Steve walked out and smiled as he noticed me. He walked up to the truck, and I locked the doors. "Hey beautiful, I'm Steve," He said as he walked up to the window. He smelled like rotten trash. "Hi," I said back. "Can I take you out to dinner?" "No thanks." "Oh, Caleb won't mind. He shares. I use to screw his wife." I wanted to vomit. "I don't think he knew about that, and I'm not the type to be shared." He grabbed my arm and tried to pull me closer to him. "I'm every woman's dream. DO YOU HEAR ME!" He shouted. "Let go," I said as I tried to break free of his grasp. All of a sudden, Steve fell to the ground, and there stood a very angry Caleb. "What the hell," Steve said. "What the hell are you doing touching her?" Frank said as he held onto Caleb. "Figured he shares this one like he did the last one." "What the hell is that suppose to mean?" Caleb said. "You know Ashley, and I would hook up all the time," Steve said, and if it wasn't for Frank holding Caleb, I knew he would beat the crap out of Steve even though he deserved it. Prick. "Caleb, maybe we should go before you do something you regret," I said as I reach out the window and grabbed his arm. "Ya. Frank, you tell Paul if he doesn't fire this prick, I will no longer be doing business with him. Freaking women out and sleeping with married women. Disgusting." "I will be calling Mr. Fairchild as soon as you get in the truck and leave. I really don't want the cops involved." "I'll go peacefully," Caleb said, and then he walked around the truck and got in. "Oh, and Frank, someone will be here from the ranch to get the rest of the stuff." "Of course. Steve lets go," Frank said as he walked up to a bleeding Steve. Steve had blood coming from his nose. As we drove away, I felt terrible for Caleb and had no clue what to say. "Did he hurt you?" Caleb said as he reached for my hand. "No, he just made me very uncomfortable." "I'm sorry about that," He said as he pulled down a street and up to a law firm. "I need to speak to my divorce attorney. You can either stay here or come in." "I'll come in."
