THIRD PERSON'S POV:-
After a day or two, Nora was back home and back at work. Home! Could she call that hellhole her home? No, she couldn't. Her home was finished the day her mother was buried in the ground. This time, Rex gave Nora a bunch of surgical masks and latex gloves, so she would be protected from the dust. And he gave her not one, but two inhalers for her asthma.
Nora was asked to take a few more days before she would get back to her work. But it was not even up for discussion. Nora was a slave that Luna Helena hated. She was not killing Nora. She was making it impossible for her to keep on hoping. Every night, Nora hoped she just wouldn't wake up in the morning. But it was not like anyone was up in heaven, listening to her prayers.
Nora was called back to work the moment she placed her foot back in the alpha's mansion. She was weak, and her body was still aching. But she had no other choice. She covered her nose and her mouth with a mask. And she covered her hands with latex gloves.
Her fingers were still swollen because of her dust allergy. It was getting worse since Rex's medicine stopped working on her a long time ago. She only got food once throughout the day. And the medicine couldn't work unless she had food beforehand. All Nora could do was cover herself, so the dust wouldn't do more damage.
Tristan stepped out of his room. There was a woman in his bed. He was standing by the railing, looking down. He lit up a cigarette. Blowing a ball of smoke from his mouth, his eyes set on the tiniest thing he had ever seen in his life. He gulped hard as he looked at her pale and cylinder neck. It was long. Long enough for him to picture his huge hickeys on her small neck.
A small smile appeared on his face as she started dusting the walls. He found it funny. Who dusts the wall? He couldn't help but think. Helena stepped out of her bedroom and looked at Nora. She gritted her teeth as she saw Nora covered with protective items.
Helena marched toward Nora. She was about to grab Nora's hair when a familiar scent reached her nostrils. Helena stopped. She didn't have to turn her head to know that her son was there. "Finish up here and come to my room." Helena ordered Nora calmly.
Nora was shaking with fear. Hearing Helena's calm tone, her jaw dropped on her ground in shock. Helena walked away. Nora got back to work. Once she finished cleaning the main hall, she went to Luna Helena's bedroom. She raised her hand three times to knock on the door. But each time, her soul left her body due to fear. Nora took a few small breaths to calm herself down. Then she knocked on the door after gathering all the strength she could master.
"Come in!" Nora heard Luna Helena calmly speaking. Nora opened the door and stepped inside.
"Lock it and come here." Helena spoke. Nora's soul started shaking as she heard the next order Helena gave Nora. Nora's hand was on the door knob. But she couldn't lock it.
"Didn't you hear what I just said? Lock it and come here." Helena screamed at Nora, as Nora didn't move at all. Nora's heart was nearing to stop. And she started praying for her death to be less painful.
Helena stood up and walked toward Nora. Nora took a few steps behind, but the door blocked her way. Helena grabbed Nora by her neck and slammed her against the door. Nora yelped in pain. Helena grabbed her hair and pulled it hard. "When I order you to do something, I don't f*****g care if you're dead, you will obey like a good little pig you are." Helena growled, her eyes were dark as if a demon possessed her.
Helena threw Nora on the ground. Because of the fluffy carpet, Nora was not hurt as badly. Or the impact might have cracked a few ribs of hers. Helena was charging toward Nora when, suddenly, her bedroom door opened and Tristan stepped into her bedroom. Helena froze while Nora was praying for her safety. "You! Get up and come with me. My room needs to be cleaned." Tristan ordered Nora.
"Why do you want her to clean your bedroom, my sweet child? I will ask someone who knows how to do their job right. She is just a low life." Helena tried her best to get Tristan to change his mind. But Tristan was just as stubborn as his father. In fact, he was more stubborn than his father was.
Tristan didn't pay attention to his mother. "Didn't you hear me? Get up and follow me." Tristan ordered Nora louder this time. Nora flinched. But she stood up and followed him behind.
Once they were inside Tristan's bedroom, Tristan locked the door. Nora was shaking with fear. She heard the stories of how heartless and ruthless Tristan was. And how he enjoyed torturing others. She was fighting the tears that were burning her eyes, so they could come free.
Just then, a delicious aroma reached her nostrils and her stomach growled like a wild animal. Nora cursed under her breath. Every time she went to the hospital, Rex gave her food three times a day, aside from two big bowls of fruits just as snacks. She didn't understand why Rex had to torture her that way. Living in the mansion, her body became accustomed to less food a day.
Tristan grabbed her hand and took her toward the table. He sat down and began dishing out food on his plate. There was a roasted chicken breast, a spoonful of mashed potatoes, two hard-boiled eggs and a glass of warm milk. In a small bowl, Nora saw a bunch of fruit. She gulped hard, her stomach growling, reminding her that she hadn't eaten anything in hours.
Tristan patted the space beside him while looking at Nora. "What are you waiting for, baby girl? Come here and eat. You don't want the food to get cold." Tristan spoke in a gentle tone. Nora was staring at him with a confused look on her face.
A voice inside her forbade her from trusting Tristan. He was part of the same family that had been tormenting her since she stepped foot into the pack. The Alpha was also not so good when it came to Nora. After all, Alpha was the one who put her in the hospital for the very first time. He broke both of Nora's legs when she tried to escape.
Tristan offered Nora his hand, a gentle smile was on his face. "You can trust me, baby girl. I will not hurt you." Tristan spoke in a low tone. Nora shivered as she saw his eyes darkening. But it was not the same as Helena or Alpha Owen. It was different.
With shaky hands, Nora placed her hand on Tristan's hand. He gently tugged her toward the couch. Nora fell on the couch. Tristan placed his hand on her tiny back and his heart clenched. All he could feel on her back was a thin layer of tissues that was not enough to cover her bones. Her bones were poking out of her skin. "Eat it, baby girl. You are hungry. I know it." He whispered in her ear, encouraging her to eat.
"Please, don't hurt me. Whatever it is that I did, I swear I didn't know it offended you. I apologize. Please, let me go." Instead of consuming the warm food in front of her, she started begging for her life. Tristan was confused. He was unable to understand why she would be begging him like that.
Tristan took a deep breath to keep himself calm. "Eat this, you will be free to go only after your plate is empty." Tristan ordered her. Nora grabbed the plate and began stuffing everything inside of her mouth.
"Hey hey hey!!! Slow down. You will choke if you eat like this. Take it easy." Tristan tried to stop her. As his hand touched her back again, she jumped in fear.
"It's alright! I am not going to hurt you. I am a friend of Rex. You can trust me." Tristan tried to reassure her with Rex's name. As soon as she heard Rex's name, Nora stopped. She was no longer stuffing her face.
Tristan sighed in relief as he watched her eat calmly. But still, she was eating like a hungry kitten. Tristan looked at her from head to toe. Her hair was a mess, tangled up, and he saw dirt in her hair. Her pale skin was covered with bruises and scars that she got from the alpha or Luna. Tristan's heart clenched how her eyes looked so colorless. She looked like a lifeless old doll.
