"My mate, huh? Maybe he has someone he thought was more perfect than me?" I quietly whispered with a careless laugh to their hearing.
One of the maids grabbed my shoulder hard and said seriously, "If there is a possibility of that, then your mate is blind because you're truly one of the most beautiful women I've ever met." She said and quickly covered her lips, which made me amused inwardly, only if she knew that my mate was their Alpha king.
Her hands flew to cover her mouth. "Oops, sorry for the curse word." She apologized, and I shrugged it off nonchalantly.
They were right after all. I am more beautiful than Lorelei, and Alpha Lorelei wasn't only dumb; he was blind.
'Our mate isn't blind,' a provoked Maia growled at me.
'Does that mean we are the ugly ones?' I teased her in return, which made her flare up.
Maia scolded me a lot before she clarified with a grumble, 'Our perfect mate isn't blind, and we're the most beautiful women in the world.' After completing her words, she blocked me and retreated into my mind, which made me stifle a chuckle.
Fay began to dry my wet, long, and curly hair that fell past my shoulder.
Earlier, she told me Beta Wyatt permitted me to choose the style I wanted to go with tonight. So when Fay asked what hairstyle I wanted, I told her I'd love my hair to be straightened and fall past my shoulder.
Mom had always done that to me when she was alive. She'll patiently comb my hair and tell me how soft and silky it is and how running her hand through it makes her day.
"How can your hair feel so perfect? So smooth like silk." One of them commented, touching my hair again, which almost brought a smile to my face.
However, I kept quiet and kept a straight face until they were done with everything. It was quite funny how I didn't feel tired from their care; instead, I felt so energized and eager for the night.
I can't wait to get dressed like a princess.
Slowly, I yawned and closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep. However, I couldn't do so because my mind kept wandering about.
"She's so quiet, beautiful, and pitiful. So closed up. I wondered what Maia must have gone through." Fay said with a sigh after a few minutes of me closing my eyes.
They were talking about me because they thought I was asleep. Although I wanted to tell them I was not, I knew they would feel awkward once they saw that I was not. It's not as if they were talking badly about me, so I kept quiet.
"Beta Williams arranged an off-shoulder dress; however, because of Maia, he requested one of the most expensive malls to send that limited edition long-sleeved lace gown that only had a piece in the world. How gentlemanly of him." One of the women spoke with adoration for Beta Wyatt.
"I think Maia and Beta Wyatt would look like a perfect couple by the night. I'm so excited." Fay whispered as if she didn't want to wake me up, excitement in her voice.
"Yeah. Me too. It's such a pity they aren't mates." The woman who said my mate must be blind said
It was underestimated to say that I was shocked by Beta Wyatt's act after hearing what Fay and the other woman said.
I didn't expect Wyatt to do so much for me because I've always taken him as a stranger who has always revealed nothing but coldness.
Beta Wyatt is just the best man I have ever met, except for Dad. How nice will it be if I am his mate?
I never expected myself to say this, but compared to the heartless Oswald, I'd rather go with Beta Wyatt, who hugged me earlier and told me I could cry it out.
Even Maia didn't disagree with me. After all, my mate didn't do a pinch compared to Wyatt in my life; rather, his stinky a*s kept on thinking of ways to kick me out of the pack.
And somehow, the memory of how my lips pressed against Wyatt's lips last night filled my head and sent my heart racing. However, a few seconds later, I froze, and I noticed Maia did as well.
'Maia, don't you find it weird?' I asked.
'His lips against us felt so perfect, and we felt no piercing pain as we read in books, she replied, which made me more confused.
'Exactly. Do you think something is weird?' I tried to remember the feelings I got when his lips pressed against mine, but I couldn't.
'I don't think so. Last night, we were in a lot of pain because of our mate, so we might have brushed it off,' she clarified, and I fell silent immediately, knowing she was right.
However, all that kept running through my mind was his lips against us. Even though I tried to stop it, I couldn't.
'I'd like to give it a try one more time to feel his lips against mine.' If I was right, I recalled feeling nothingness when his lips pressed against mine.
'Alpha Oswald is our mate.' Maia, admonish my thoughts.
Although I knew I shouldn't, I couldn't help teasing Maia: 'However, he doesn't want us.'
'Beta Wyatt doesn't want us either; remember how he kicked us immediately when our lips met?' she said, which almost made me sigh in regret. Yeah, right!
Such a person will always be honest with no one but his mate and will always stick his pure self to his mate. So perfect!
'Besides, remember the reason we wanted to survive. Although we need our mate, we need to get the red flame pack back to its previous glory and punish the wicked.'
Maia said with a burning hatred. I stayed silent, knowing she was right.
'Maia, I think the chance Beta Wyatt gave us should be used to study in school. I want to learn how to spar and be a proper Luna like mom wanted to raise me to be.'
I didn't realize that I fell asleep during the skin preparation. It was late in the evening by the time I woke up, and my skin, which had turned a dull tan due to years of suffering, was now a shiny tan that could steal any heart away.
Fay told me that after a few weeks of treatment, my skin would recover properly, but I didn't ask about the scars caused by regular whipping, knife cuts, etc.
"You looked so shocked to see yourself." They teased with amusement.
"Beautiful. I looked so beautiful." I whispered, tears pooling in my eyes as I stared at myself.
Big bright silver eyes with random purple speckles, a double-fold eyelid, a cute straight and long button nose, thin pink lips, a thin chin and jawline, and purple straight hair that fell to my waist.
I looked so gorgeous, and the ugly scar that filled my skin seemed to look less ugly.
I was sitting on a white towel, but I was already more enamored with myself than I've been ever since my parents' deaths.
"It felt like when mom and dad were alive. I was..." Tears pooled in my eyes.
I felt nothing but wanting to touch Wyatt and hug him for making this happen so soon.
"Aww. Wait, don't cry it out, or you'll ruin the beauty." Fay yelled out in fluster.
She quickly grabbed a tissue, which she used to clean my eyes before the tears fell.
"Thank you," I told them with sincerity because they didn't do a messy job or stare at me with disgust after seeing my scarred skin; rather, they made me look this beautiful.
"You should say that to Beta Wyatt. We are just doing our job." She replied and grabbed my hand in the center of the room.
One of the women brought out a 5-inch pair of heels and asked, "Do you know how to walk in heels?"
I shook my head, not quite remembering if my feet would still be able to walk in heels in familiarity since it's been a while since I've walked in heels. "Before. I don't know how to now, but I can catch up easily." I assured them because I didn't want to stress them.
"Alright. Then we shall give you a basic lesson that'll help you tonight. We need to let all the men fall over you tonight." One of them said with excitement in her voice.
"My partner is the cold Beta Wyatt. No one will dare to fall over me tonight." I teased in return.
The lady chortled and whispered next to my ear meaningfully, "You can choose another partner after the night is over." She encouraged me.
Fay hissed and glared at her, saying, "Stop teaching her corrupt things."
"How does it feel as if I'm teaching her corrupt things?" Girl, all you need to do tonight is shine. Now, come on and practice how to walk."
