Let Her Go

The cold look on Beta Wyatt's face made my heart beat faster and made shame course through me. I can't help thinking of what he'll think of me now. That I am someone who's throwing herself on their Alpha? Especially when he has Luna. Dear goddess, I've never felt as embarrassed as I currently do. I tried to struggle against Alpha Oswald, but he locked me in place and caressed my cheek with an evil smirk on his face. Alpha Oswald gave Beta Wyatt a bored look and leaned closer to me; his lips brushed against my cheeks, making me let out a soft whimper. "What does it look like?" Alpha Oswald inquired and took hold of my hand before placing a kiss on it, despite the intense glare I was giving him. What the hell is this person doing? Didn't he want us to keep our mate bond a secret? How can he be flirting with me in front of his Beta, my master? Is Alpha Oswald crazy? I was thrown into a state of confusion by Alpha Oswald's actions. Beta Wyatt nodded indifferently in reply, which made me freeze. His nonchalance, despite seeing me with someone else, somehow made my heart ache. I forgot that I wasn't his mate; I was just an ordinary partner, or maybe a stranger. "Let her go; Lorelei is on the way." Beta Wyatt gave Oswald an undecipherable look. Completing his words, he turned to me with a frown. "And you…" I tried to push Oswald away this time, and thankfully he was quick to release me. The reason Oswald was quick to release me is probably because Beta Wyatt mentioned that his Luna was on the way, but all in all, I'm glad that he let me go. I don't want Beta Wyatt to misunderstand. I walked toward him and said, "Beta. I mean Wyatt…" "You call him by his name?" Alpha Oswald gave the both of us a cold glare. If looks can kill, we'll surely be six feet deep now. "It's none of your business. Stop causing trouble already." I mumbled under my breath, but I was loud enough for him to hear, and he gave me an intense glare, which made me freeze. I secretly smack my mouth. What the hell am I doing causing trouble for myself in front of Alpha Oswald? What if he kicked me out of the pack in anger? I took a glance at him and sighed in relief when I saw that he had no trace of punishing my actions. To be truthful, I think Alpha Oswald does let my actions off a lot for someone who wants to kick me out. However, I still tried to explain myself in front of Beta Wyatt; I just didn't want him to misunderstand my relationship with Alpha Oswald. "It's a misunderstanding. I have nothing to do with that person." I clarified. Alpha Oswald's expression darkened immediately, while Beta Wyatt seemed to have a smile on his face. "I know." He admitted and pulled me toward him. Before I knew it, I crashed into his embrace, which was oozing coldness and his sandalwood scent. It made me feel at home. However, I was stunned the next minute: Did Beta Wyatt just hug me without a reason, or was he mistaken? I tried to separate from Beta Wyatt, but he refused to let me go either. Alpha Oswald stared at Beta Wyatt and me coldly. I frowned, not understanding what was wrong with him. Why is he so worked up whenever I'm with someone else when he's always proud to show off his love for Lorelei in my presence? Somehow his anger made me excited, and the thought of provoking him suddenly filled my head. I wrapped my hand around Beta Wyatt's neck and laid my head on his chest while smiling sweetly. Beta Wyatt already assured me that I wouldn't be kicked out, and I chose to believe him, so why wouldn't I use this rare chance to anger my mate, who has always done the same to me? Beta Wyatt's hand tightened around my waist, and I kept on enjoying how Alpha Oswald's face changed from calmness into fury. His veins throbbed, and he gritted his teeth while giving us a cold glare. "Let her go." He coldly ordered Beta Wyatt in his Alpha tone. His voice was laced with killing intent, making me shiver. His hand suddenly grabbed mine and tried to pull me toward him. I bit down on my lips to prevent myself from moaning due to the tingles that were running through me. As if noticing my reaction, Alpha Oswald's lips curled up wickedly, and he purposely began to stroke my spine lightly, channeling the tingles to run through my sensitive area and making me bite my lower lips. My legs weakened at his touch, and I tried to withdraw from his touch, but he wouldn't let go. Beta Wyatt stared back at Alpha Oswald, seemingly unbothered by Oswald's threat: "She's my mate for the night." Beta Wyatt retorted, his hands not letting go. My mouth became agape at his stubbornness. I stared at Beta Wyatt with shiny eyes. Why is he getting more handsome in my eyes? My ego was boosted by the fact that two powerful and handsome men were in a deadlock because of me. I mean, which girl doesn't like that? Alpha Oswald's eyes darkened, and he glared at me before staring back at Wyatt with a warning look. However, Beta Wyatt looked unperturbed and pulled me closer to him. The both of them stared at each other with coldness all through, their hands grabbing a hold of mine. "What are you doing?" Lorelei's voice suddenly sounded behind us. Immediately, Alpha Oswald let go of my hand. A creep of disappointment ran through me, but I managed to keep my expression at bay. Lorelei wrapped her hand around Alpha Oswald sweetly, a smile on her face. I frowned slightly because, at that moment, I noticed something. Alpha Oswald doesn't seem happy with Lorelei's arrival, nor did the two of them seem as close as I imagined; were the two fighting? "What are you talking about?" She inquired with a curious expression. However, none of us had any intention to reply, which she didn't seem to care about; instead, Lorelei looked at Beta Wyatt and me with a meaningful gaze. "You both looked so close." She uttered which almost made me roll my eyes. I don't understand why I held a natural dislike for her even though she did nothing to me. 'I feel like strangling this b***h to death whenever I see her hands on my mate.' Maia chirped in, and I agreed. "Of course, we are partners," I replied while smiling at her since neither of us had any intention of replying to her. Lorelei's face turned harsh. Her breathing became erratic, and she glared at me with contempt, saying, "I didn't ask you to interrupt. I was talking to Wyatt and Oswald, not you. You're just a stranger, an ordinary commoner; you don't have any right to involve yourself in our topic." She fired at me, which made my eyes widen. This b***h didn't just say that, did she? How dare she? I took a step toward her, my blood raging. Clenching my teeth, I pronounced, "Excuse me?" I took another step toward her, feeling nothing other than tearing this stupid b***h apart, but before I could succumb to the deadly emotions coursing through me, Beta Wyatt wrapped his hand around me. "She had more than sufficient rights because she's mine. Just because you're a Luna doesn't mean I'll respect you; know that." Wyatt uttered with a cold glare, which made her shrink into Oswald's embrace fearfully. He glanced at her with an expression filled with killing intent before leaving the garden, pulling me along with him in a wide stride, giving me no chance to glare at the b***h and my stupid mate. "Uhm. Wait. I'm not that much of an expert with heels." I cried out while running behind the displeased Wyatt. Wyatt sighed and slowed his pace before he came to a stop. How gentlemanly. "I'm sorry." He apologized, which made me sigh. I never felt that the goddess was unfair, but now I do. Why am I not mated with someone this perfect? I bit my lower lips and stared at him inquisitively. "Uhm..." Beta Wyatt's finger gently untucked my lower lip that was in between my teeth before brushing his tongue against my lips, sending a weird current that made my lips numb. "You have questions to ask?" He asked me, and I nodded in reply. Beta Wyatt leaned toward me and tucked a strand of stray hair between my ears. "Things are not what you think they are; just know that." He divulged. I knitted my brows in confusion, not understanding what he meant, but he didn't seem like he wanted to elaborate on what he said; rather, he said, "Keep a smile on; we are taking an award home." He instructed me and stretched his hand toward me. I nodded and faked a smile before taking hold of his hand. Suddenly, he came to a stop and eyed my dress, but before he could say anything, I shook my head. "There's no need to change my dress. I've managed to wash the wine stain off it, and it's not as wet as earlier." I explained, and he looked at me, unconvinced. "I'm not cold either," I said firmly and began to make my way to the hall before he could reply. I'd just taken a couple of steps when he turned me toward him. Before I could blink, Beta Wyatt placed his suit on my shoulder. I seemed to hear something explode in my heart, and my heart began to race. "To keep you warm." Beta Wyatt conveyed, and I could only nod at him absentmindedly. My hand made its way to the suit that was placed on my shoulder before staring at his figure that was beginning to make its way toward the hall. The more I look at Beta Wyatt, the more I fall in love with him. However, I don't regret falling for someone like him. He's worthy of my love, I'm sure. My hand made its way to the suit once more to brush it, catching the sandalwood scent lingering on it. "Stop staring at the suit as if it's a prized collection." Before I could blink, Beta Wyatt pulled me along with him. However, before we could take a step into the hall, I heard a fawning voice say, "Alpha king." "King James of the Mystery Pack, welcome to the Power Axis Pack." Alpha Hudson uttered in reply which made my eyes widen. "King James?"
