Chapter 3How Ryan imagined the night would go and how it actually went were vastly different things. He thought being Johnny’s PA would mean seeing to Johnny’s needs, but June quickly made it clear that Ryan would be helping wherever help was needed. She had him running around an hour before the cocktail party began and the errands didn’t stop just because the party started. When he did have a free second, he fought his way through the crowd to be near Johnny, but there were always a handful of bodies between them. Occasionally, he ended up within the orbit of one of the other two main guests, and June had made it very clear to him that if either of them needed anything, ever, and their own assistants weren’t on hand, the task belonged to him.
