Ethan swears and Josphine's life is never the same. Miles away, people are dancing, not knowing that despair has hit the Smith family once more. -- Prologue A rain storm had blown in during the morning, and it still hadn't passed. If anything it had gotten worse during the day, Josephine sighs as she moved her brown hair out of her face. She was contemplating the idea of calling her cousin, so she could get a lift home, but she decides against it. "I better start going, it's only going to get worse." "Josephine!" a voice said running up to her. Turning, she looks at her friend. A girl with green eyes and light brown hair. "I'm so glad that I ran into you." "Imani, what are you doing here?" Josephine asked. She was surprised her friend was still here, since Imani was never one to stay after school, always saying she had better things to do and a baby sister to get back to. "I need to talk to a teacher," Imani told her while playing with her hands, she looked out the window and whistles. "Wow, it's pouring out there... is Ethan going to pick you up?" "No, his working... so I'm going to walk." "In this? You'll be soaked." "Imani it's o-" "We can walk home together, you can come with me to find my math teacher." "There's no reason for you to get wet as well." "I've got a umbrella in my locker and my bag." Imani only smiled at her friend, as she took out said item, but text books fell out as well. Josephine only smiled, but it dropped when she saw the cover of the first book. "I thought you gave up on the guitar?" she asked, slightly hurt as she hands the books back to her friend. "No, no. It's just a hobby," Imani muttered as she puts her book in her bag. "I'm sure he'll understand, I couldn't find him, so he might have left, so why don't we leave." "Hang on, I missed a call," Josephine said looking at her phone. She was just glad that it wasn't Ethan, or else he would be having a heart attack, listening to her voice mail, her smile dropped and Imani. "What's wrong?" "Dad's not coming home. They need him." "I'm sorry, I know you were looking foreword to seeing him," she said putting her hands around her friend's shoulder. It was common knowledge that Josephine's dad was part of the military. "It's not a big deal." "Want to get a hot chocolate?" "Huh?" "It's cold outside. There's a place nearby that make amazing hot chocolate." Imani only rolled her eyes at her friend, but she wanted to make the girl smile, she didn't know what she was going through. "We should go." Josephine stared at her friend, before nodding and the two headed out.
