Chapter 2

BLAKE: I had tried not to, but then my feet had another plan for me. So here I am, staring at Catleya. She’s busy talking with her helper, an omega. Then my feet lead me towards them. “Need a help?” I ask as soon as I get closer, while tucking my hands in my side pockets. She immediately glances at me. “Blake-“ “Hi!” Assessing her reaction as I wait for her next words. However, the surprise look from her earlier has been replaced by a death glare. “What are you doing here?” Disregarding the coldness, I answer. “I have heard you’re doing some errands for the newly joined wolves. So I was thinking if I could lend a hand.” “No, thanks. Don't waste your time. You may leave now.” She’s not even giving it a second thought. Somehow, I anticipate this kind of response from her. She's walking away from me as she continues on talking to the omega. If I am also not mistaken, she was the omega who helped Catleya in her boutique every time I came to visit her before. “Many helps are better than having only two, Cat-“ “I don’t need your help. Now, leave!” Hissing her annoyance at me. I don't know why but I still follow them as they go inside the enormous chamber. I can't help but wonder when I notice the changes here. Time really flies so fast. Things have changed for good. And as far as I remember, there was a huge cedar tree right on this spot. I scan the entire room in full of admiration. She probably designed and renovated this. The designs are very meticulous and luxurious. This perhaps is one of the reasons why every month a lot of wolves want to join the pack. They have never experienced the humble and hospitable treatments from any other packs, but here. It had reached their neighbouring countries the news about how Caspian ruled his pack. That also led to some packs having a silent war against him. They could not help but to envy the way his pack loved him. “What-“ Catleya does not expect to see me following them. I hid my aura which made sense she didn't notice my presence as I followed them going inside. I smile. But I don't get any reaction from her. She’s still the same compose woman I had known. She even looks better now. "Cat-" She interrupts me quickly. “Blake, if you really want to help, then leave. Your presence isn’t helping.” I don’t know what has gotten into me, but I still walk closer. She heaves a deep sigh before she talks to the omega and asks her to leave us. As soon as the omegas walks out, she turns to face me again. “What is your problem?” “Nothing. I just want to help.” “I told you I don’t need your help. Can’t you understand that?” Instead, I sprawl on the wingback chair as I gaze at her. “Your brother told me to help you.” “Tell him I don’t need help. Now, leave. I have a lot of things to do than talking to you.” After a few moments of staring at each other, I ask a stupid question. “You’re still mad at me, aren’t you?” She squints as she looks at me straight into my eyes. “May I remind you, Blake? In case you got an amnesia while being away for so long. First, you told me to steer clear of you. Second, but definitely not the last, we should never talk again. So, what do you think you’re doing right now?” Her words leave me frozen and a pang of regret suddenly washes over me. “I'm sorry. I know I was a douchebag. I just didn’t want you to-“ “Don’t bother. I don’t need your sorry. Neither your help here, nor your presence! So piss off before I regret talking to you again!” She's now mad. I can see that. Her she-wolf tries to take control. I can see it in her eyes, too. A few seconds later, she walks out of the chamber without saying anything. She’s no longer in sight when I get out. When was the last time we had seen each other again? I ask myself. But Madic replies. “Eleven months and eight days, Blake.” “She’s still mad at me...” “Make amends with her, Blake. You knew how much you hurt her.” “Madic, it’s not that easy.” “Since when you found things difficult for you?” “I just can’t hurt her more. If we go back to what we were before, I will just end up hurting her again.” “Why don’t you try again this time? What’s holding you, Blake? Besides, something has changed. You’ve been kicking me out of your mind, too. You're always blocking me. Are you afraid I may see what’s in there?” My supposedly response to Madic has come to halt when I glance at Catleya talking to her omega from afar. They're with the three wolves. They are probably the newly joined ones. By staring at her, it reminds me of what happened between us. Things had never been the same since that day. I wish I could have done it better. Our situation today would have been a lot different. When the Moon Goddess relieved me from the curse. I thought my life would change, too. But as days had gone by, and turned them into months, then into a year, my life had never changed. It led me to hurt Catleya unintentionally. Or I perhaps did it intentionally. But then I’m still living in between. Afraid in between of things. I'm still bound to protect Skye, even though I knew Skye wouldn't need my help anymore. I may be the one needing her help in the future. It's just that, my body seems having this invisible pull to protect her all the time, regardless of being far away from her or not. I still think of her well-being. I had gone far, trying to live like a normal human being. I had even gone back to the same school and hung out with some friends and former classmates I knew there. However, there’s something pulling me to go back here. It’s not clear if it’s all because of Skye or something else. But Madic had been feeling it as well. Something that we both felt might be going to happen eventually. The Moon Goddess had visited me in my dream as well. She's telling me to live freely because I am now free. “Blake!!!” “Ugh!” I groan recognizing the owner of that voice. “How do you find me here, Cody?” “I ask Catleya.” “What do you want? Are you done cleaning the statue?” Instantly, a big haughty smile appears on Cody’s face. “Huh! Of course! And it’s clean like a newly carve one!” “Good for you.” “Yeah. Anyway, Kent and Cierra are going to the pack’s assembly. For sure, they have yet to know you’re here. Let’s go and surprise them.” “Don’t bother. I spoke with Kent earlier. He went to Alpha and Luna’s house.” “Oh! I see...” “Besides, I need to find Catleya now. There’s something I need to talk to her. You wanna go with me?” But the sour look on Cody’s face amuses me. “Wait- are you afraid of her??” “Hahaha! Me? Afraid? Dude, she’s my little sister. She should be afraid of me-“ “But?-“ I playfully ask. Cody may have been an easy go lucky guy, but he respects and treats his sister dearly. Catleya once told me that as well. Then Cody sighs. “But, you’re right. Hehehe! I just love my sister so much, Blake. You know- She’s our youngest and the only sister we have.” 'Danger! Blake, danger is coming!' Madic interrupts our conversation. It’s not just me, and Madic. Cody has noticed it as well. “You feel that, dude?” He asks, as we carefully scan the entire area. “Men, we have uninvited visitors. I want you to stay on full alert. I’ll take care of this matter for now. But if things get out of hand, you know what to do.” Says Caspian through our mindlink. He only mindlinks me, Cody, Kent, the Deltas, and the lead warriors. We are the security front liners of the pack. But I haven't fulfilled that role in these past few months since I wasn't here. “Visitors? Who are they, Alpha?” Kent asks through the link. “Alpha Valkan and his Beta.” “What? But what do they want??” “I’ll find that out. For now, continue with what you’re doing.” Caspian says before he disconnects from our link. “Are you okay?” Cody seems not okay, so I ask. He walks with me to the Village’s Lodging where I saw Catleya and the wolves went to earlier. “Dude, Alpha Valkan is infamous in the Southern Community packs. Haven’t you heard of him?” “No?-“ Although, I'm somewhat curious, but decide not to ask. “Dude, I have heard Alpha Valkan is still looking for his Luna. He ad a visit to each pack to search for her. He’s been searching for his Luna to bring home. I’d feel bad for whoever his Luna. She may just get beaten and whatnot. He loves torturing people, and I heard he killed those women who dared to refuse him.”
