His name on my lips was like a cold shower mixed with the realization that I had messed up.
Damien is my only chance to survive the separation from the pack and not get killed. He also knows my true nature and that is even a bigger problem than the pack.
I can run from the pack and if I make smart decisions I could even hide from them... but covenant... the witches, they have ways to find anybody, no matter how well they are hidden.
I climbed out of the shower even more frustrated and annoyed than when I climbed in.
FUCK!
I stopped by the sink and looked at myself in the mirror. My disguise must have been lifted in my almost orgasm, so I had to push my green hair off my face. My face looked just as annoyed as I was inside. There was tension and an annoyed line all around my eyes and on my forehead.
As I met my own eyes in the mirror, there were flames in my eyes. I could also feel my body temperature rising.
FUCK.
This can only mean that I am about to bust into flames... great...
"Okay, Lilly. Calm down."
I took a few deep breaths, but they weren't calming my temperament.
"FUCK."
I need to concentrate on something.
The only thing on my body was that stupid ring. The same ring I wasn't sure why I was holding on to. It's not like I cared about my father... he wasn't there for me ever. He never cared about me or my mother so...
Okay, this isn't helping.
I tried taking more deep breaths and I even turned on cold water in the sink. I washed my face with it and after a few more deep breaths and almost freezing my hands off in the water, I calmed down.
The flames disappeared from my eyes and I no longer felt overheated. With this little inconvenience gone, I started to prepare for dinner.
Gabriel is in the covenant council or something like that. His robes told me that he is a water witch or is in charge of representing them. So I have to be on the best behavior and hope that he won't notice that I am part witch.
After my hair was finally dry enough, I started to disguise it with my spell. I tried to use magic on my wet hair a few times, but that never went well. Either the color wouldn't come out right or I would even get spots of green shing through when the hair dries.
A part of me wanted to do something new... something completely different, but I can't do that right now. It would cause too much suspicion, so I pushed those urges down and went with the same look I had this morning.
The good thing with pack, was that we lived a bit further from the pack and no one saw me every day or more than one time on the same day, so I could do everything I wanted with my looks and nobody saw or cared about it.
But now I had a face to uphold.
When I was happy enough with the outcome of the spell, I walked back into the bedroom. And as I suspected, Damien had a wardrobe for me delivered. I knew that they weren't here in the morning when I got dressed, so I guess it was all delivered while I was in the library or the gym.
Quickly, I flicked through the racks and I was pleased. I guess it wasn't him who picked these, but whoever did pick, had quite good taste. The whole wardrobe contained mainly black and red clothing, with splashes of green here and there.
I settled on a simple black tshirt dress and knee-high socks. They matched quite well and I liked how I looked in them.
Feeling more put together and calm, I walked downstairs.
The moment I stepped out of the room, the aroma of mouth-watering food hit me like lightning.
Goods, what is it?
For some reason it smelled very familiar, but I know that I never ate anything like that back in the pack.
My food ratio was quite limited to the food a kid can make on it's own. So it was mainly sandwiches or cereals if I was lucky... if not... well, I would rather not go there.
I pushed the sad images of my childhood and concentrated on finding the source of this magical smell. So I almost ran down the stairs, only to find Damien there. He moved around the kitchen like he belonged in it. He was like a super chef or something. I think that he didn't make any unnecessary moves, doing everything precisely as it had to be done. My best guess is that he had done it a million times... and that is probably true, taking into account his age. But I never thought that a vampire would master a skill like that, a skill that is useless to him.
"Are you going to stand there all night or are you going to help with dinner?"
"I thought I was the one cooking?"
"Well... you were supposed to... but I kinda guessed that you were too tired after all the training and it was getting late."
"Sorry... what can I go to help?"
"Why don't you prepare the salad and set the table while I finish cooking?"
"Okay..."
I felt like I wanted to say something more, to explain why I was late... but no words formed. So we worked together in this uncomfortable silence for the next twenty minutes.
I swear that both of us tried to start talking a few times, but the conversation didn't... couldn't start for some reason. So the suffocating silence with the clumsy attempts to talk lasted for twenty-two minutes and fifteen seconds. I know that because I counted, until Gabrieal joined us.
He looked well rested and even shining with happiness. The only place where it didn't look so optimistic was his eyes.... there was darkness and weariness in them.
I guess he is trying to understand what sort of relationship I and Damien have... and if I am not mistaken, he is a little bit jealous.
My little thought bubble was disturbed by a loud bell and Damiend's calm call for a meal.
When we all filled our plates and sat down, the same silence continued, until Geremy started.
"So Lilly, what are you ?"
