“Of course not,” the Duke said. “When one is in love, anything is possible, but we were talking about ordinary men and women, which is a different thing.”
“We all want to fall in love,” Alysia argued. “Everybody needs love, but very often they are unlucky and do not – find it.”
“I suppose love is what you want,” the Duke said searchingly.
“Of course I do,” Alysia replied. “I want the love that made Mama so happy. All she thought about was Papa and he loved her so much that nothing else in the world was of any importance.”
“Then they were both very fortunate,” the Duke commented.
