Fate seemed to be against Jane, for the next day after the confrontation with Albert, Benjamin took greatly ill. The whole household became frantic with trying to see to his recovering. Charles appeared so worried about his cousin, that Jane had had to put her troubles aside as she endeavoured to be there for the man she loved, to lend him her strength in this trying time. Because of this, Albert had to remain as he could not leave in such a time, and as she could not tell Charles of it all. Albert took advantage of this, stopping her every now and then to taunt her, tease her. Each time, Jane thought of a million ways through which she could make him pay, but kept her calm.
