Southwell, England
Charles was proud of how quickly his household had managed to prepare the rooms for Miss Hathaway’s arrival. She would arrive anytime soon, this he knew. The last letter he had received from her had stated that she was spending the night in the Crusty Inn, just outside of Southwell. If his estimations were right and Miss Hathaway decided to leave with first light, it would only take her about four hours to arrive at his manor. She would be exhausted from the trip, of course. And hungry too. The chamber that would be hers had been aired, the sheets changed and bath water, ready, only waiting for her command.
