Chapter 28: Bound

1071 Words
Third Person POV/ Mitchelle’s POV Half the day is over and Alex is pacing the school hallways hoping to find Sunny and the transfer girl. She wanted to find the transferee first preferably before Sunny does. She needs to talk to her first. Meanwhile, Sunny is already with Jea. They’re at the school cafeteria now as she tells Jea all the boring stuff she should know. Mostly on the do’s and don’t’s or the location of important places and offices in the campus. “Do you know Alex Song?” Jea throws out of nowhere. “Huh?” Sunny is puzzled at the sudden question. She thought she might have heard wrong. “Alex Song. She’s in some of our classes. Do you know her?” Jea asked, expressionless. “Yes, why?” She is now more intrigued that the transferee knows Alex’ name considering she didn’t saw the two interact nor thought that they knew each other.   “Are you close?” Jea questioned back instead of answering her. Sunny found her questions direct and personal so she throws back the same question. “Why are you asking? Are you two close?” Jea released a soft sigh her head bowed a little now. “Hmmnn…no, it’s like…more like we are…bound.” Jea answered, thoughtfully choosing her words. She knows it’s not fair to throw in questions without answering some in return. Sunny noted how her voice was small but sure. How her answer was not loud but certain. If she was interested, she is surely more so now at the person opposite her and the choice of words she gave. “Bound?” She repeated. “What-” “Jea…” a voice abruptly butted in, leaving Sunny’s question undone and hanging. She is surprised to found Alex panting like she just ran a marathon. “…we need to talk.” Alex blurted in between heavy ragged breaths. “See.” It was Jea who speak, as if to say ‘I told you we are bound’. Alex quickly flashed a glare to Jea and then turned her attention to Sunny, changing her expression to something more friendly. “Im sorry, Mitchelle, for butting in like this but I really have to talk to Jea right now. Maybe you could continue this tomorrow? Or I’ll just take up the rest where you two left off, don’t worry. I got this.” Alex suggested as she pulls Jea up by the wrist. “Let’s go.” She directed at the one she’s holding. “Uhh..o-okay.” Sunny hasn’t even agreed but Alex already dragged Jea away, both women leaving her dumbfounded. It must be serious that Alex even called her by her real name. Left alone, she decided to go ahead at the SK café while waiting for Bree and Ari. She also missed the sweets there. She slowly walks towards the direction of her destination. She was in front of the glass doors of the café when she noticed two familiar faces in one of the tables. This stopped her in her tracks. Instead, she went on the other side of the street. Mitchelle internally deliberates on what to do. She didn’t realize that Alex might have brought Jea in there to talk and she did. She doesn’t want to go in and look like she’s stalking the two even if she just accidentally thought to go on the same place as them. Yet, she couldn’t push away her curiosity on what they could be discussing about. She ended up standing there observing them before coming up with a decision. Alex said something to Jea which she answered lengthily. It is the first time Jea saw Alex look so mad or irritated or both and she cannot deny that the younger woman looks hot and intimidating in her stance, the crossed arms and the glare while having a conversation. She wondered what could have elicited that emotion from Alex. As the two oblivious women discusses, Sunny sees as Jea reach out for Alex’ hand that is now laid on the table. Jea is saying something as she holds on to the other’s hand. A pleading on her face. Alex didn’t pull away and her expression actually looks softened now. She even smiled slightly and Jea looks relieved from turning Alex’ initial response to something more favorable to her. ‘I just look ridiculous here’ Sunny thought, finally deciding to just go back in school and wait for the two there. Maybe she’d just ask Bree who knows more about Alex’ background than her.  ---- ‘I can’t really remember.” Bree said when Sunny asked her if she knows who Jea is and if they somehow know her relationship with Alex. “Why would you think they know each other?” Ari directed to Sunny. She explained to the girls what happened in school after classes but she left out the part that she saw and watched them at the café. “Bound? Is that what she said?” It was Bree’s turn to ask. “Yeah. I don’t get it as well.” Sunny started to get perplexed at this. She messaged Alex to ask if she’ll hangout with them but the girl replied that she’s busy with something and can’t go. She is still with her. Mitchelle thought. Instead of dampening her mood, she asked how the two younger girls have been. The interaction between her friends didn’t go unnoticed by her. She can sense something blooming between them, with how Ari clings to Bree every time she laughs and Bree just lets her, with how Bree looks more confident and at peace when she’s with Ari, and with how the two just look at each other and seem to have a conversation only them can understand. Sunny starts to notice these things between Bree and Ari and maybe she had hope that she has what they have with a certain someone.
