The Angel's Revenge

The ray of sunlight blinded me as soon as I open my eyes. I don’t know where I am, but I’m sure by the look of this room that I’m inside the hospital room. What happened to me? I tried to stand up but my head starts to hurt and I feel dizzy all of the sudden. A loud beeping noise makes me cover my ears hard. I heard the door open and a nurse came to my aid. “You should go back to bed, Ma’am. I’ll call Dra. Melendez to examine you.” The nurse said while helping me get back to bed. “Can you please give me a glass of water? I’m so thirsty.” I requested. “Yes Ma’am, I’ll be back with it. I’ll just call your doctor.” The nurse said before leaving the room. I look out the window and tried to remember what happened that day. Then just like that, it came crashing on my head and I started to feel pain all over my body. I was in an accident after I caught my husband cheating on me. Never in my life, I thought that day will come. Martin Uy was my childhood crush. I almost fainted when he started to approach and courted me. All seems magical especially that day when he asked me to marry him. My dad doesn’t like him at all but accepted him as his son-in-law. Before the accident ….. ‘What time are you coming home, honey?’ I texted. ‘I’ll be late hon, sleep early.’ Martin replied. I tried to accept the fact that my husband is a busy man now since he started to compete with Golden City’s business tycoon Rickard Lee. Martin is the only family I have now. My Dad died in a car accident a week after our marriage. Everything changed since that day. He became busy and went home late. He also insisted that I stay home and take care of him and the house. I thought he wanted me to get pregnant but every time I open that topic, he will tell me that we’re still young. I need to do something. I want to start our family now and become a mother. I packed the food I cooked for this celebration and went to visit him in the office. I greeted Grace, his secretary when I reached the Chairman’s office. She looks surprised when she saw me. “Mrs. Uy, I didn’t know that you will visit today. Mr. Uy is busy at the moment.” She nervously said. “Grace, I know he’s busy. I will just give it to him and leave.” I said. As I move towards the door, she blocked my way. “I’m sorry Mrs. Uy, Sir strictly said that no one should disturb his meeting,” Grace said. I feel something suspicious in her movements. “As a chairwoman of this board, I have all the right to enter that door even if it’s the most important meeting my husband has. If you will block me again, I will surely fire you.” I threatened. I don’t want to use my authority as the owner of this company to threaten my employee, but I need to see what’s inside his office. “Ma’am Angela, this is for your own good. I don’t want you to get hurt. I-I c-can’t do anything about it.” She said before letting the door go. I pushed the door open. At that moment, just like in every movie I watched, the time seems to slow down. A man and woman half-naked inside the office, doing God's forbidden thing. “M-Martin?” I said. They seem caught up in the moment and don’t feel the two people watching them. I slowly opened the lid of the food I’m holding and walk as fast as I can and throw them the food inside. “What the f*ck?!” Martin shouted, but the moment he realized who throw the food in them his eyes widened. “A-Angela?” “How dare you! How dare you! How dare you!” I shouted as I hit him constantly. He fell on the ground due to his pants clung to his legs. I turn my face to his woman. I don’t know who she is but she already finished putting back her clothes. “Who the hell are you?” “Easy kitten, you wouldn’t want to try to scratch me.” She said. “What kind of woman will spread her legs inside my father’s office with a married man?” I questioned her. She keeps smirking at me while fixing her make-up. I tried to attack her but Grace holds me in place. She shakes her head, giving me the signal not to attack her. “I am the woman who’s your husband truly loves. He just marries you because of your money.” She said. “You’re lying. Martin is not that kind of person.” I said. Martin will not do that to me, he might do this but he will not fake his love for me, isn’t he? “You’re very naïve Angela.” The girl said. “Mylene stop.” Finally, my husband spoke. “Why? I’m tired of being a mistress, Martin. This naïve girl should know by now. I thought you’re already planning to divorce her since you already acquire all their assets?” And then I remember the papers he wants me to sign last week. He told me it’s about the new project in Beijing. I signed it without even looking because I trusted him. “Don’t tell me it’s that—” “Yes girl, that’s it. You signed the papers that transfer all your rights to Martin, that includes even you guys separated.” She said while laughing. “I-I don’t understand Martin, why? Why would you do this? I gave you everything that you want. I love you.” I said while crying my heart out. Grace keeps her hold to steady me. She’s right. What’s inside will hurt me. “Angela, I-I----” I didn’t let him finish. I run outside and went to the elevator. I heard Martin’s foot's steps following me but I closed the elevator door before he can even reach it. If this is a dream, I want to wake up. I want to go back where we are in college and Daddy was here. His instinct that day, when he met Martin, was true. He didn’t trust him and tried to convince me that he is not right for me.I wish that I listen to you Dad. I grab my keys and started the car. Martin caught up but I ignored him. I am crying the whole time and didn’t know that someone is following me. I was about to make my turn but the car blocked my way. I panicked and didn’t have time to watch where I’m going. All I can see at the moment is Martin with Mylene driving away before everything went black. Present........ "Ma'am, are you okay? Ma'am? What happened here?" The doctor asked. I look at the Doctor and she signals me to look in her fingers. "Everything seems good. I've checked your vital signs and the wound in your head was already healed. You can schedule a follow-up check-up after two weeks." Dra. Melendez said. "Where is my husband Doc.?" I asked. "Chairman Lee is on his way to see you later. We are just preparing your release papers and observing you till tomorrow to make sure that there's no complication." Dra. Melendez said. "Thanks--- wait, what did you just say my husband's name?" I heard her wrong right? "Chairman Lee, the owner of this hospital and the Lee group of companies." Dra. Melendez said. "You got it wrong, my husband is not the business tycoon Lee but the Chairman of Sy Shipping International," I said. "Ma'am Sofia are you okay? Should we check her results again Dra.?" The nurse asked. "Sofia? My name is Angela. What are you guys talking about?" They both look at each other. "I think there's a problem in your brain. I will call the head doctor to examine you again." Dra. Melendez said before leaving the room. The nurse stayed to help me out of the bed. I need to go to the bathroom. What's wrong with these people? And who is Sofia? I'm about to wash my hands when my eyes caught my reflection in the mirror. "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" I shouted. The Nurse opened the door. "Mrs. Lee what happened?" she looks around to see if there's anyone inside. "There's someone in the mirror. A woman!" I said. She looked at the mirror and at me. "It's just your reflection Mrs. Lee. Please calm down." "M-My reflection? but that's not me." I said as I lay in the bed. "Everything's going to be fine." She said as she injected something into me. I started to drift away. I'm Angela Sy, that woman in the mirror is not me. I shouted to my head before I fell asleep.
